Flat Pedal Shoes in Cape Town

To answer your question and the speculation...

My partners at Get Stoked Distribution were the agent's for Five Ten shoes for more than 5 years, but sadly our contract has come to an end with no intentions from Adidas to continue distributing the brand.

To our knowledge, the brand will no longer be available in SA for the foreseeable future as we can only imagine it's not nearly profitable enough for a multi billion dollar company like Adidas - as some astute hubbers have guessed.

That being said we have acquired the rights to import and distribute Ride Concepts and I can confidently say that after more than 5 years of only riding Five Ten shoes as a DH and Trail (Enduro) rider - they are absolutely a solid competitor to Five Ten!

We will not only be receiving stock of our first shipment soon, but we will also be launching our B2C portal in the next month through which the end consumer can click-and-collect their choice of any Get Stoked brands, including Ride Concepts.

If you would like to know more about which models we have coming and when we expect to launch them you can hit us up at:

marc@getstoked.co.za

or

info@getstoked.co.za

Thanks!

Please keep us posted of where we can see and fit these shoes in stores.

As much as a I love my 2FO's ... waiting 4 months .... I certainly will consider other options

same here. Looking at replacing my well used 5.10s.

I am very much interested in the ride concepts. Just hope they bring in a selection and more specifically the the launch model or at least afford one to place an order for a specific pair.

Also really interested in these, they will most likely cost the same as 2FOs if I do a comparison on the US stores.

as always sizing would be a gamble. and hopefully they bring in the clipless version

Hi guys,

Thanks for the interest in Ride Concepts!

I can confirm our first shipment will only include flat pedal shoes, namely the Helion and Livewire models (similar to FiveTen's Freerider pro - by far our best selling shoes when distributing the brand)

With the Helion being the premium model, the Livewire being the price point model.

Demo shoes will of course be available to try at our select premium dealers (which will be listed on our B2C portal)

That being said, as flat pedals will always be our focus, we will look to start doing the clipless models once we have grown the brand locally and obviously based on demand...

Hope this helps!

interesting, but I have ridden with various flat shoes, skate shoes, tennis shoes, those puma shoes(car racing ones) from footgear even one day with a pair of hushpuppies. This is strictly mtb only and on trails. I not gonna make a debate about all those shoes, but with a Stiff soled MTB specific shoe my feet do not hang off the end of the pedals as a result of too soft a sole. Especially the heel, I have hurt my heels a few times cause I have dragged them when the shoe bends the wrong way. I have even knocked and dragged my heel when shoes bend the wrong way.  Then the biggest thing for me is the extremely large difference there is in feedback of the trail between mtb shoe and any other shoe. I dunno about anyone else, but you can feel all the rocks, roots and bumps more, whereas shoes like 510 softens that impact it also allows you to keep the feet planted to the pedals.

100% mate. I even went as far as opting for the impact lows for 90% of my riding as the stiffness further dampened the feedback.

From testing them over the last 5 months the Helion's have seemed to strike the perfect middle ground between Impact stiffness and Freerider pro feedback.
