As Fanie said.

There's a good chance it takes many many months to pass through, there's an even better chance it never comes out at all! (evil laugh)

I followed a delivery to me via the tracker until 2 days ago when it said : JIMC E EMS . Processed through facility.

Thereafter no movement.

What does it mean in plain English ? Before that it went through customs.

Thanks

In basic English, someone screwed up when ordering... should have selected the more expensive courier option.

I ordered an ABS sensor for my Jeep from Austin Texas on the Monday morning, had it in my hands the Friday evening... FedEx.

Beware of  using DHL............it will probably be intercepted by SARS and sent to the Post Office ( not closest to you ) where you will pay a hefty import tax !!!

I brought in 2 shirts for R1000.................had to pay R850 tax

That's true actually, my last thing ordered took 2 months from placing order in Hong Kong to get to my post office. The frustrating thing is it is shipped out and lands in SA within a few days, the rest of the time it sits somewhere on our shores.

I suppose I've lowered my standards to such a level where I don't expect things to ever reach me, so its like Christmas when it does.

The tax has nothing to do with dhl/post office. Imported textiles carries a hefty duty.

This is a way the government thought up, to stimulate (not my choice pf words) the local textile industries.

If you are using the Post Office tracking site, try using the same tracking number on the "domestic parcel" tracking. Mine did the same thing as yours and then it literally disappeared from the international tracking site and all the movements from there were reflected on the domestic site. Only took about 2 weeks for it to reach my local PO.

You misunderstand. Coppi was giving tax evasion planning advice...

You're confusing DHLPost with DHLExpress. DHLPost is the normal postal service provided by DHL, which, if used, will be sent on to the destination country's internal postal system (SAPO in our case) whereas DHLExpress never hands off to the destination country's national postal service, doing all the work themselves.

DHLPost does NOT equal DHLExpress. 2 totally different companies, under the Deutsche Post DHL umbrella.

And - that customs duty on clothing is correct. Would have had to pay that regardless of how it got here.

Alternatively, go into a post office, give them the international tracking number, they'll give you the local tracking number - because it usually changes when it heads through ORTambo post centre, then you can track it locally.
