Mamil Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 What a peurile response - my point throughout this thread is to confront prejudiced thinking wherever it is, including in myself. No moral high ground here - in fact Crispy one, I find that when the arguments I put forward cannot be discursively or empirically challenged yours is the kind of answer that comes up. Hopefully you're wearing a helmet?Don't want you to injure yourself if you were to fall off your high horse

Stricker Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 One of my "African" students summed up these types of topics perfectly in a few words. European Skin colour people in South Africa ( Probably other places to) are always seen as:Competent until proven IncompetentInnocent until proven Guilty Where as darker skin colour people Incompetent until proven Competent Guilty until proven Innocent. Myself have been guilty of this and have really put in an conscience effort to eradicate this in my life.Human brain is a fascinating piece of genius and capable of subconsciously storing information that eventually influence your action without you realising it.

Patchelicious Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 The level of detail people will go into to “just be right”. Winning a spelling bee does not make somebody more or less prejudiced.
Mamil Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 But maybe its true that both size and spelling count? The level of detail people will go into to “just be right”.Winning a spelling bee does not make somebody more or less prejudiced.
King_Crispy Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 The level of detail people will go into to “just be right”. Winning a spelling bee does not make somebody more or less prejudiced.I'm not prejudiced. I love Heineken in a bottle, in a can or from a draught machine.Even previously disadvantaged, if it's been left out, I'll gladly take it in and put it up in my fridge
