Hey guys,

Am looking to get away this weekend, somewhere that has self catering accommodation and trails.

I stay in Cape Town and looking for somewhere in the Western Cape preferably.

I'll be travelling alone.

Cheers

Oak Lane cottages in Elgin.

This is a good spot. Elgin is a good base. But it depends on what kind of riding you want OP, is it just riding, how many (family or mates) and how far you want to travel. If I was looking for a good weekend away for some trails I'd probably head straight to Stellies. So I could hit Jonkers without the pressure of getting back for this or that thing in CT. Recently stayed on Boschendal and rode the trails on the farm alot. It's got a bit for everyone and there is a lot of climbing to earn the fun downs. Also helps it's got great wine, good food, spa and alot of places near by to rehydrate with some wine tasting.

Don't forget places like Ezel' where you're in the trails but not near much else.

Hemel en Aarde is also great. I've got a lot of recommendations there but to be honest google, trip advisor and AirB B&B will give you alot to suit your needs.

I was considering maybe just staying in Stellenbosch for the weekend and riding Jonkershoek and just staying out there for the weekend maybe

So many possibilities :

Some of my favorites

Grabouw

Oak Lane, Trail's End

Old Mac Daddy

Houdenbek and Kaleo in the Koue Bokkeveld

Eselfontein in Ceres, but you'll need friends to make it work, so book any place in Ceres.

Hermanus

Hemel and Aarde Trails, pick your accommodation of choice in town.

Grootvadersbosch

Stay at any of the local farms on the Trail network. Honeywood is my favorite, as I got married there.

Tulbagh has a lot of trails and even more accommodation options.

I can second this. Staying at Sanddift.

The 7.5km orange loop is loads of fun, pretty technical at one or two spots to keep you on your toes. Ideal for a quick ride just after getting the braai started and just before it gets dark.

The 27km loop is a good day in the saddle and you are sure to be walking some parts of it, unless you have hair on your teeth...
