Sagan hasn't won a race since last year's Tour. There's plenty of talk of a decline in the three-time world champion's career, but this seems like a good opportunity to put a stop to that. He was relegated in the stage 11 sprint but it was actually his best sprint of the Tour so far, which was certainly an encouraging sign.- CN's perspective on Sagan's form.

According to PCS the prime age for scoring points is 27 - Sagan certainly fits the trend of a decline after 27.

To be fair, he's had 6 race days AFTER the Tour 2019, and 32 race days this year (having won the GC at Vuelta a San Juan).

Bit of anticlimactic finish for Sagan. Hoped he could do better, but had to cover the attack and the previous attack. So I assume he was a bit finished.

Yeah he closed down a few attacks..very tough last 10km.... still he collected points on the line and SAM won't..

Very good stage..incredible racing.

A very interesting graph. And yeah Sagan's battle for green does seem to appear to be one of a great established champion against a great emerging champion in Bennett and it makes for fascinating viewing as Sagan isn't giving up without a fight as today showed. Also it's a battle between former teammates so there's an element of Bennett wanting to stick it to his old team. The battle for green is getting red hot!

I see minimal stages for Sagan to claw back points.

Tomorrow (St 15)

Flat as a pancake before the intermediate sprint. They'll sprint for position, which means Bennett could outscore Sagan.

Monday

Rest Day, test day

Tuesday (St 16)

Sagan/Bora might want to attack up the hill before the sprint point.

Wednesday (St 17)

Another small bump before the intermediate sprint point. Might not be steep/long enough to hurt Bennett.

Thursday (St 18)

Profile shows a pimple between Km zero and the sprint point. Might not be enough.

Friday (St 19)

Last day to try get intermediate sprint points and drop the green jersey
