How / Where to report scammer

surely there should be a tab / link to report scammers to bike hub to have their profiles investigated and blocked ? I just got the classic message from someone wanting my item and to discuss payment and transport ! RUDOLPH1975

Can send message to admin Nick or Matt they will look into it

But payments and transport is not uncommon amongst Hubbers just look out for rating's and age of account but that said scammers do surface occasionaly

Oh I know it's a scam - don't worry about that. I'm wondering where to report to bike hub so that they can remove the account before he/ she manages to scam someone else.

When on "Desktop display" - select at the very bottom of the screen - you can see a "Report" tab, next to the reply tab. Click on this, state your reasons for reporting the post, ie suspected scammer. Admin will do the rest.

 

 

PS ... the desktop display is a bit busy on the phone ... once you have reported the post, scroll all the way down and select the phone display.

I'm only seeing option to "view and report stolen" bikes. This guys not selling, he's trying to buy and sent me direct message.

Thanks for reporting your suspicions. I've looked into the account and there is nothing obvious that points to it being a scammer.

 

Of course, it is a brand new account without any transaction history, so proceed with the necessary caution if you choose to.

 

As always, wait for the money to clear in your account before shipping and you should be safe.

Yesterday I organized a transaction on bikehub where my sister did the pickup for me in PTA.  She had the fork in her hand and did an EFT there and then.  I gave the seller the option of cash on delivery, he chose EFT.

 

Everything went smoothly.

Thanks for your assistance. Its definitely a scammer - no questions asked about the product - wants to pay and have me deliver. Typical modus operandi for scammers. Hope he doesn't catch someone else.

Although you're correct that scammers will most often go straight to payment and delivery/collection, it seems this individual wants to discuss the options for payment and delivery. In many cases a potential buyer has enough info from their research and the details in the advert so they're happy to move straight to "how do we do the deal?". 

 

You may well be correct and caution with any deal, especially with a new user is advised, but it would be premature for us to ban this person based solely on the request sent via chat.

Matt, thank you so much for being on top of things. Can you check how many other items this user has showed an interest in and contacted a seller ?

 

Also, whilst i have you, do you have snug idea as to why my chat messages are no longer coming through to tapatalk ? All other notifications for the forums come through but chat messages do not - since about this time last year.

I've sent you a Chat message on the first point.

 

Regarding notifications in Tapatalk, the Forums and Classifieds are two separate systems (since Dec 2019) so that means only forum related notifications will come through via Tapatalk. Chat messages related to Classified ads are completely separate from the old forum Private Messenger.
