That was my Trans Baviaans teammate that caused that early bunch slow down. He was sitting near the front in the middle and his chain dropped when we started the climb, bodies everywhere so couldn't move out of the way to the side. Miraculously no one crashed into him!

oh yes now I remember seing a guy on the side of the road with a chain issue !

Yeah I also think good call. Malcolm tried it and didn't work out..

Donovan tried it and turned out pretty good. Its 2 really tough days but really good to do and make progression or use it as a way to work forward.

Donovan is an animal though ;)

But sunday was so nice I just felt I would have liked to enjoy it a bit longer, especially after the horrible conditions of the day before and the previous races since end of lockdown... but a whole 50km would problably have been a bit much and I would probably have regretted once on Lichtenburg road with that sticky tar and all those bumps

I rode Killarney a number of time (road bike) 15-odd years ago, lots of fun....

Question: are there MTB'ers, in addition to road bikes that ride?

thanks

I wouldn't advise that - the Wednesday Tuesday PPA rides on Killarney would be fine for a mtb I think

On tuesdays (PPA) you see MTBs from time to time. My first Killarney was on my MTB before I bought a road bike.

On Thursdays I doubt there are any MTBs even in the slow group, but just do whatever you want, both days there are always people that get dropped and ride solo, so it doesn't matter what bike you are riding as long as you are getting some good exercice in a safe environment

The U19 guys fighting with each other in the bunch worked on my nerves! Swerving all over the place.

Kris (Pure Savage kit) basically did most the work at the front the entire race. The young guys just looking around, no one willing to take a turn.

Apparently one of the U19s that switched one of the Absolute Motion guys on the finishing straight that caused that crash at the end.

I got dropped right at the end..had a horrible day just trying to fight to survive at the back of the bunch.

:whistling:
