I would look at second hand, for 40k you could pick up a sweet full carbon dual, sub 12kg bike.

At last, logic.

The ktm and silverback are both obese / heavy. For gravel roads a descent hardtail is also a great option. You must factor carrying a 4 to 6 kg penalty when comparing the ktm against a descent hardtail, unless you have a back or medical issue and ride over the 220 minute mark - I would buy a hardtail.

I certainly would not pay 40k for either of those bikes.

Right now the industry is sick, deals are few. If you don't need to buy then don't.

I would be looking at the 12kg mark as said above. This weight will give a great ride and call upon a proper groupset.

We did a lot of research on ±40k dual suspension mtb's before walking into a certain store pretty much to buy the Silverback Stratos 1 for the Mrs. There are however some big no no's on it.

The whole down tube has a plastic cover on it to hide the cables. It feels as flimsy as milk bottle plastic. 2 on the store floor had hooked something and had bent the corner of the plastic up already, looked like a well abused library book page. I can just imagine a good long muddy ride having to remove that cover to clean before it creates a lovely grinding paste in there. May not even be able to clamp it in bike racks nicely using the down tube because of the cover

The frame is even more impractical and uglier in real life vs picture. That odd shaped bearing is not something I can see you finding easily in the long run.

We walked out with a Titan Cypher Elite that day, I am very impressed with the titan so far. No fuss or frills just a solid bike. I would buy another. The transferrable warranty is also a bonus. Ridden back to back with my Scott RC 900, I would be as happy on either. If anything the Titan is a better looking bike.

Thanks for all the feedback, after taking everything into consideration and doing some further research based on my budget and riding ability and what I am riding I opted for the Titan Cypher 120.

I appreciate everyone taking time to comment and guiding, much appreciated.

Congrats, and enjoy it! Give us a bit of feedback on how it rides after the first few weeks.
