Hi all,

I need to get a decent pair of MTB shoes, currently I use my Addidas Terrex but I find the sole soft / flexible which creates sore feet for me.

I use flat pedals and dont want to go the cleat route so what are good options for pedals in terms of shoes with a stiffer sole?

Appreciate the help.

Etnies Marana Crank from Go-MX :)

Nice stiff sole and the rubber so far is great.

Yes they are MTB shoes, NOT skate shoes.

Specialized has the 2F0 range. VERY nice !!!

DC shoes are gaining market share.

The 5-10 shoes were very good. Some conflicting feedback since it became part of Addidas ....

I will buy 2F0 again

Thanks all, busy checking out all the options mentioned.

I did see some reviews online where people sat the 5-10 are no longer of the same quality / durability.

I am in Pta, so JHB or PTA is all good from a shop perspective.

I'm seriously considering 2FO. Hows the toe box on those? I find the Ride Concepts too narrow (I think) and I'm having endless issues with pain on the outside of my left foot and numb toes on the right.

Normally after about 20km.

I have very wide feet ....

2F0 fits perfectly

The 2F0 looks nice, only issue is buying without fitting or is there is Gauteng shop stocking those as well?

Will also pop into Sprocket and jack over the weekend as we hunt for a MTB for the wife.

Give Lynwood Cycles a call. I don't recall seeing the 2FO flats there when I was there in December.

Received great service from them.

Ask if they can still get stock of the Skitch shoes. At R600 on sale it's definitely worth looking at. Not the most hardcore shoe but they do have their place on the bike.

PS. What pedals are you using?

Thanks will do,

Currently just normal flat pedals, dont think it is a specific model just the generic MTB flat pedal from Cyclelab.

Will pop into Lynwood cycles when I go to the butchery.

Something like this?

The reason I ask is that the platform on the basic plastic pedals with the small cage does not offer enough support for the foot.

There is a good chance that your discomfort starts there.
