I'm also in the process of doing this on a budget....

Hopefully I can get away with using spares I already have and less than 5k..... I'm about to drop 2k on a fork so that leaves me with R3000 left.

Should be a fun process

Luckily you don’t need gears on THAT frame and if you make it fixed ( which i recall you say you also have) you also don’t need brakes haha. Cheap cheap.

A friend of mine had a friend of his looking to off load.... 3T Luetus team... It is exactly what I needed and even has PM brake mounts.

Stoked!

Just keep in mind that road shifters dont work with mtb derailleur as they have different cable indexing.

All SRAM shifters and RD. RUNS 1 to 1 pull ratio

Anything 9 10 11 spd. RD will work with any 9 10 11 speed shifters

I have done it. 9 mtb shifter with 10 road RD

a simple and cheaper option is to get some Jones bars.  That way you get use out of your groupset as it - they look fantastically cool and work really well - Gravel tires and you're good to go - as you get a feel what what you're enjoying you can transistion to rigid forks and drop bars if you feel it's necessary - this keeps it pretty cost effective as a good start

Just my opionion, this is what I'd do - in fact this is how I started - maybe just to keep it fresh get a new paint job on your frame if you want that new bike feel

Have fun

Perhaps I need to come and speak to you about my steel hard tail Soma B Side........I think it would be a great gravel bike! Of course then I need a trail MTB again Ha Ha!
