*RULE 20*//

There are only three remedies for pain.

These are:
If your quads start to burn, shift forward to use your hamstrings and calves, or
If your calves or hamstrings start to burn, shift back to use your quads, or
If you feel wimpy and weak, meditate on  Rule #5 and train more!

can't yuo do a substitution at Registration like in the past?

Apparently not.

Confused the crap out of me when I read "substitutions closes on 21 Feb 2022"

Always could do substitutions at Expo/Registration.

it will probably open up then but for now its easier to force the R850 entries until such time

I will rather not say what this reeks of for me, it it happens to be the case.

Can someone please clarify something from the CTCT emails:

"Plan to arrive at your Transition Area no more than 10 min before your start time."

And then...

"The Grand Parade is quite exposed, even if the breeze is light and for most the wait in the start chutes will be an hour or more, so don’t forget to pack a lightweight wind-cheater, to stay warm."

To me this implies that if your start time is 7:00, you must arrive at the Transition area at 6:50 (or later). Then you are likely to spend an hour in the start chute, so you actually start at 7:50, nearly an hour after your start time.

To be honest, last year was a bit like that. But I just thought that was a stuff up and an exception. So have I miss-understood something, or have they provided conflicting information, or do you generally end up starting quite a while after your official start time?

The second part *hour or more* looks like a remnant from 2020. I would disregard that.

I phoned CTCT Race Office. and the friendly but firm answer was that the substitutions has closed, they cannot reopen a link for me. But I can still do a "Late Entry" under the International riders section, and it will only cost a mere R850 to enter.

So I guess CTCT number 18 is not going to happen this year.

What was the normal entry / transfer fee ?  Was it not close to R 700 ?

So basically this is just a R150 late entry "penalty" ?

Very genuine question as I am considering entering ....

Was R650

R680.00 was the original entry fee.

But as Eddy gifted me his entry, it would have only cost me R200 to enter. That's a great deal less. Lol.....

Was the transfer fee not a full entry amount ?  Something about charity ...

Substitution is / was only R200.00

The original entrant can sell his entry for any fee he wants, (or gift it) as long as it is not more than the original entry fee.
