Thanks for the write-up Chris!
Beautiful picture!!!

Reflection of the race and hopefully some motivation for others to explore.

EDIT - Looking at the 2022 rates for chalets, it range from R 4 700 for 2 up to R 10 880 for a family unit for 6 people.

SAN Parks and CapeNature facilities are expensive (unfortunately). They have to be ... the big financial input from government is long-gone and Land Cruisers are expensive.

Smile, wave, pay and enjoy the fact that these nature reserves still exist. 👍

Thanks for the comprehensive write-up Chris ... I (now) have my eye on this one.

Thought I will download the "thumbnail /low res" photo .....

NOPE .... proper 12Meg high res photo available for download.

When I first looked at the picture, almost look like you are leaving a stof streep behind you, but it is the long grass.

Definitief 'n memorable event vir my gewees, sal dit vir enigiemand aanbeveel wat bietjie iets anders wil doen as S2C of W2W.

Wat se gras .... 🤪🤣

Just outside Springbok all the way through the grass is standing tall.  What a lovely sight.  Last time most of that stretch had red sand as far as you could see.

Can confirm that Vanrynsdorp is having GOOD rain this year.

Promising to be a very good season for the flowers.

Upington had 55mm the last two days with more to come on Friday.

Some places in the Kalahari over 100.

Received feedback from Brandvlei and Pofadder with rainfall.

Agree should be good for the flower season.

First time a early morning run was canned due to rain for consecutive days in Upington.

We stayed over at Maskam guest farm on Monday 13 June, just oitside Vanrhynsdorp.

Tuesday morning the dry river bed looked like this ....

By Wednesday morning the gravel road back to the N7 was full of water sections.

Coming back on Sunday we saw many of these water puddles along the dirt road.

We were very lucky with the Trans Augrabies.  Normal cool starts.  Hardly any wind.  Very nice day temperatures.  And as we drove out on Sunday we saw the cold front moving in between Springbok and Aggenys.
