Hi everyone, I am looking to buy off of Bike24, I just wanted to see if anyone in South Africa has ordered off of Bike24 and how was your experience?

Yes, they are a big, legit site and do deliver to SA...

There are a few forums on this topic so maybe check those but i thing key things to remember are:

1. The duties for most bike parts are only Vat. Main exception is clothing which attracts a heavy duty

2. Use dhl/ups and not a service that ends up using our local post office. While it costs more, its faster and you can see where your items are

Ahh okay cool thank you so much, I did some research and I saw alot of mixed reviews about them so I was abit worried about that

I ordered everything except my frame, wheels and pedals from them, but that was 2015. Also, some SRAM and Shimano parts are not shippable to SA, eg. my 5800 11s groupset is not available for shipping, compared to in 2015, but I see the SLX upgrade kit is. When opening the view details, it shows not shippable, as expected for Shimano's geo-location lock.

It also came in through the post office, which is a big risk at the moment. Back then it took 14 days and 17 days for my two shipments. So the 11-18 days reflected on some items (below) would be realistic. I ordered all parts for my build in two shipments because some items weren't immediately available.

I added everything I have insured onto the wish list, so that I have a reference for the replacement values, when updating my insurance. Freaking sad how much it has changed in 7 years.

Shipping hasn't changed, it's still EUR 19.99, so I assume it is still with DHL (not the courier copany, but the German Postal Service). The T&Cs state DHL Express is an option, but shows "The DHL Express Option is generally subject to a surcharge".

I would use them again, providing they ship by DHL Express and not via the postal service. I'll also compare to other online stores before deciding who to go with.

I haven't seen anything on the website where you can chose a different carrier company i might be blind though😂. Im trying to buy Magura brakes from them but can't seem to find other websites that come even close to the price Bike24 does, my only worry is the delivery. I would hate for it to be sent through the post office because it is sure to get lost now

I do see websites like Starbike that come in much cheaper than even Bike24 but as I said im not too sure of these sketchy websites

Scroll to the bottom of the website. It's available at checkout:
The DHL Express Option is generally subject to a surcharge. DHL Express can be selected during the ordering process if all items in the shopping cart offer the option and DHL Express is available for the selected country. We give the remaining time for the receipt of the order in hours and minutes exactly. DHL Express deliveries may take longer depending on the postal code of the delivery address. As soon as the postal code is given, the exact parcel delivery time for this delivery address will be calculated. If you are logged in via your account, we will use the postcode of your standard delivery address to calculate the DHL Express parcel delivery time. Choose destination country

You can buy from starbikes. I have bought from them before, but was a couple of years ago.

Bought something off Ali express very recently. Took 17 days from purchase to collection at post office.

I was pleasantly surprised..

Also got something from Merlin Cycles - a week after purchase via DHL.

It was also a Shimano product.
