That is the "Fedex" service where they just dump the package with the post office - Netherlands PO initially as with mine. Yours is probably sitting with customs in SA where the tracking won't be updated for 4 to 5 weeks and then SAPO will try to find a way to get it to you. In my case they sent it to the wrong post office in Cape Town and then lost it for 10 days while trying to get it the 30km to where it should be.

I have suggested to CRC it is ridiculous charging that much to send something via the SAPO - if you have the same experience then please do the same and maybe one day they will listen.

Looks like you are correct. I used https://parcelsapp.com/en to track it and lo and behold good old SAPO appeared. I just hope the bike appears in one piece now.

Surprisingly not. DHL didn't ask for any money.

dont worry, according to my junk mail folder they are getting their admin money by asking people that have not ordered anything to pay them. :)  I get at least one email a day from a range of courier companies saying my package is waiting for delivery I must just pay their admin fee. lol.

(the problem comes when I eventually do order something, how will I know)

They always seem to reach you in the end... My experience has been around 6 weeks delivery time. If it is damaged in any way, CRC are pretty good with assisting.

Yours is going through the post office correct ? That sucks big time. What shipping company did you use ?

CRC only gave me one courier option which was 140 pounds. It said shipping is 10 to 12 days. Originally it looked like FedEx due to the tracking link they sent me but I think it's regular ol snail mail that ends up with SAPO as edge said.

Looks like it. I guess they assume we can't afford it or the calculator can't multiply by that many anymore.....

Currency converter was a bit useless in any case. Banks convert at their sell rate at the time they process the transaction whereas the currency converter probably used some spot rate. Maybe they had too many queries on why the amount on your credit card statement didn't tie up to the website.

While what you say makes sense, it was easier for me to look at it in Rand value less british tax and have a rough idea what it would cost me, give or take a buffalo or 3.

Now one has to do all sorts of sums just to get an incorrect price in Rand.

Their prices automatically exclude VAT when you select South Africa so you would have underestimated the price 😳

Update on my order (at about day 50).

CRC has contacted the courier and they are unable to locate the bike so have marked it as "lost in post". CRC has given me the option of full refund or send another bike.

I've written to them asking if the next bike will be sent via another courier as I don't want this happening again.
