Three horse race now!

I could be difficult and say it was more a case of 1st vs 2nd and then 3rd vs 4th, but there is still plenty of KM's until we reach Paris Nice, so Remco might still come back into it. Fingers crossed for a three-way fight.

despite this last crash being very little fault of Primoz I just wonder if there's an underlying balance or peripheral vision issue? Anywya that's his business and I hope whatever the issue is, that he has it under control.

Back in the late 90s/early naughties there was a GC specialist called Alex Zulle, who had ridiculously thick glasses (as a prescription wearer myself who needs eyewear to go to the loo at night for fear of tripping over things, I can justify the ridiculous) who also spent an awful lot of time crashing. I have often wondered if eyesight has an impact with him, and subsequently with Roglic. Depth perception, peripheral vision, simply not being able to see 100% the poo about to hit the fan.

There is no ways eye tests wouldn't be part of the general health testing at the team, but could it be a consideration for what seems to be a greater number of crashes, Mr Wakefield, or am I talking out of my most knowledgeable orifice again. Please be honest with your response. 😇

From team twitter:

Primož Roglič underwent careful examination by our medical team after yesterday’s stage and again this morning. The decision has been taken that he will not start today, to focus on upcoming goals.

We wish you a speedy recovery Primož 🙏🏻

The sad part is, THIS TIME, its not due to his own fault/mistake but due to one dumb-ass Astana rider.

can't really blame the Astana rider for the terribly marked road furniture,.Bora didn't keep him safe in that finale yesterday. Everyone knows he needs lots of help in hectic finishes. You never see Visma/UAE ******* about halfway down the peloton 10k from the finish on sprint days

Can't argue with stats.
I think there's a combination of factors though that lead to crashing. Positioning, reaction time, concentration, bad luck, poor decision making etc. I think with Primoz, the problem is that so often those factors suddenly all happen together. Like yesterday, he wasn't in the perfect position, and then got unlucky that Lutzenko crashed in front of him, and then seemed to react slower than the Uno X riders in front of him that he crashed over. If any one of those things didn't happen, he probably walks away fine.

he wasn't half way down the peloton. He was a behind the Jayco alula guys who were behind the bike rental  and UAE

Ilnur Zakarin is another that comes to mind. His descending was sketchy at best.

In terms of eyesight, you'd imagine that a rider getting to the pro peloton would have worked that out - else they'd not be there but in a ditch somewhere...

So, anyone think today could be the day where MvdP finally starts his TdF?

I think this stage might suit him, but then again, I thought the same about a couple of earlier stages as well.

Cool pic, far from "half-way" down.

He is in the 22man breakaway currently, really helps his chances. 👍

ya, with Adam Yates... that pretty much dooms the break's chances the way it stands I think
