PJ007 Posted November 4, 2022 Share Hi all I have a 2015 sworks - matt finish. I just went for a ride (first ride in fact) - came back and rinsed it down with just water I now notice small white dots and for the life of me I could not work it out Then I remembered my drink I rode with (32GI) spilt on it I have tried the WD40 route and no luck Any advice please? Ozzie NL Posted November 4, 2022 Share WD40 is a lubricant I think, try some sort of degreaser which does not affect paint job like Ecologic Used it for years on my matt black frame without any issues

DJR Posted November 4, 2022 Share Some would say that you should be more worried about the pink spots than the white spots! 😜 117

BaGearA Posted November 4, 2022 Share Is it possible you rode through a water stream where some paint was being washed away ?

DJR Posted November 4, 2022 Share I would guess that some of the minerals in the drink (it has both sugar and salt in it) got on the frame and then dried out and formed crystals in the rough surface of the matt. That is what shows up as white. I would wet it thouroughly with clean water, perhaps even keep it wet for a hour or so with a wet rag or cotton, then brush gently with a toothbrush and blow on it with compressed air and rinse at the same time. The idea is to dissolve the crystals and then rinse it away and dry. If dry and the spots remain, then I would guess that it might have had some kind of chemical interaction with the paint?
