In an earlier post you said it was still a new bike with less than 250 km on it? Why would you have serviced the bottom bracket at multiple shops with less than 250 km on the clock? IETS NIE REG HIER NIE.

I reckon, as he mentioned it creaked and the LBS couldn't figure it out, he took it to multiple shops to try and have the source of the creak identified - Creaking is a common BB thing, so they probably all wanted to check the BB just in case/for their peace of mind.

@neau7lll - Really glad TREK is sorting you out man... I was quite shocked when I saw that crank arm, and I would be livid if someone chips the paint off my brand new bike like that too.

Trek HO phoned me back and said they will do everything they can to make it right, new cranks and a new chain stay. (They probably noticed the negligence on the footage I requested)

Obviously logistically impossible at the moment, but they will sort me out in the new year. Glad it got resolved, pity this wasn’t the outcome on the first call I received, but at the end of the day its the best possible outcome.

Lekker, they are coming to the party. You had better hope that they replace the chain stay with the same colour.

I often Wonder why they use such small bearings in the Rear suspension.

I've had to change 4 bearings after 8000 Km.

8000km - I would be happy with that - you could get double with some preventative maintenance.

There are 12 bearings of which 6 are not that expensive - 4 in the pivot link and 2 in the rear dropouts are about 80 ronds each.

The 4 in the frame are the expensive ones at 300 ronds each locally - Only available from enduro and they are double race with very small balls so any dirt in them and they fail fairly quickly - I compared prices online with overseas and they were 23 euro so they expensive all over.

So a full bearing change is gonna cost at least 1700 ronds plus 1 - 2 hr labor if the mechanic knows what he is doing.

I keep my eyes open for the bearings at good prices and then buy them as spares - before i replace i carefully remove the seals and clean them out - if they have no visible corrosion, turn smooth and can spin at high speed with compressed air I regrease and re-install them.

The joys of owning a FS bike.
