My 2 cents on this matter....

I think what most people are really annoyed at, is that  these resellers/dealers sit on BikeHub ALL DAY and see every new add as it is posted, and fair game to them, they have to do that for their business, but most of us cant sit on the hub all day like that, and likely cant even respond immediately to the email notification when what they are looking for has been advertised, so you will almost never be able to get a good deal, I can 100% understand that frustration

Your ratings here and feedback from transactions is good, but based on your the manner in which you always pop up in these threads and try and justify the transactions of what I would term "guys just trying to make a quick buck out of the cycling boom by ripping people off" , I would not do business with you.

Don't you sell cars? Do you advise people trading a car in to rather sell it on gumtree to prevent being ripped off?

ACE is basically a 2nd hand car dealer, but deals in bikes.

And like you get a dealership with a 2nd hand cars floor, webuycars and the guy in Voortrekker str, you also get different levels of dealers here on lehub.

Naah, it takes a bit of work and patience, but there are bargains on the hub still. But keep an eye out the 'n Facebook in the buy&sell groups. There is a lot of value there.

I sell more bikes on Facebook than I do here

I never said that you cant find bargains.....

Just made the point that it becomes much more difficult when you need to "battle" against people who spend a lot more time actively looking for bargains

I'm particularly refering the "dealers" that just buy and sell and add nothing to the deal.

If  you trade a car in at a respectable dealer, the minimum that dealer has to do is a quality check, valet and 6 month warrantee on the car when you buy it (this excludes the likes of WBC as they operate under a wholesale system, but they at least valet and give a quality check). In this case you know you have some sort of recourse should something go wrong, they are adding value.

I agree, all the good dealers here should at least do the following:

  1. Wash the bike
  2. Quality check
  3. Offer buyer assurance / Limited warranty
  4. Safe and reliable transaction

Who doesnt do this?

These sorts of things will never be concluded as you have too many people looking at it from their position, which they believe is the right position.

Many people looking at it from a position of privilege, browsing classifieds for things they want, wasting time they actually have looking for something that tickles their fancy and have the spare cash to buy it.

These guys are aften the 'community' guys, who seldom live close to the bread line and will just go and buy what they need from a shop anyway if a deal doesn't fall into their lap.

Those who are passionate about cycling but do so on a tight budget... These are usually the guys complaining about missing out on deals and the intrinsic value added to a buy and sell.

Traders dealers who don't care but rely on Facebook, bikehub, Gumtree etc to buy, sell and create cash flow and pay the bills. Like all things that involve humans, some are fantastic, some are middle of the range and some are rubbish. This isn't because they are dealers, but because they are humans.

Just the same as drivers, cyclists, surfers and pretty much all human based things.

There are, of course those who browse without buying much, but notice the buy/sell/price changes etc and feel disgruntled, yet it doesn't actually affect them as they weren't going to buy it anyway. These guys also push the 'community' but at the same time really just like to get virtual back pats from the other browser ghosts who frequent the community.

The thing is, no one is wrong. We all use the internet differently and we can all justify our points with what we believe are facts.

My observation is that threads like this are a lot like Naas, Nick Mallett and Hanyane Shimangi doing their post match dissection. They all have valid points, they all know what they are talking about, but ultimately it has no ability to change the outcome of the match.

I say this as most dealers, buyers and users on the classifieds don't read the forums. Just like most coaches don't watch the post match wrap
