MORNE Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 (edited) Also…is it just me or are the stanchion on the wrong way around? I might be wrong but as far as my memory goes….the travel indicator leg has always been on the left? (Edit: nevermind, i am wrong, the older ones had them that side) Edited June 18, 2023 by MORNE
jakes1001 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Hi worn out bushing will cause stansion wear.If stansion was replaced and the bushings not the end result will be stansion wear.Rock shox sa does not supply bushings on their own you have to but a new lower leg aswell. We do bushings separate from nd tuned Martin PJ 1

Shop did everything, I had taken it in because stanchions were worn, so I am presuming this was done. I will find out. From the photos you posted one of two things has happened here. One is that you're a slow learner, ran the fork too long and wore your stanchion out again - doubtful, since you've had to fork out for a replacement already. The other, more likely one is that the bushings weren't done and the old wrecked bushing has taken the stanchion with it. jakes1001 and Brawler 2
Robbie Stewart Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) @Martin PJ All I want to know is if this was a job done by RBC in PE? I'm holding my thumbs that is not the case. Edited June 19, 2023 by Robbie Stewart

Invoice was over R7000. So yes. Did assume everything was done. I am thinking now that this was not the case.
jakes1001 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 @Robbie Stewartwould highly highly doubt that as they would have fitted nd tuned stansion Robbie Stewart 1

Jakes 001 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 @Martin PJthe other question have you done over 200hours without service and do you ride on your lockout alot as that could also lead to premature wear.
dasilvarsa Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Another Question is Why is it P!ssing so much Oil ?

Was 8 months. More than 200 hours. It's my wife's bike, she does lockout a lot. 10 minutes ago, dasilvarsa said: Another Question is Why is it P!ssing so much Oil ? Just been serviced, not a great look. It's back with the shop.

But more than 200 hours with lots of locked out riding could do that. 200 hour major service with a lowers service in between should be your default. Martin PJ 1

Will be my position when discuss with my mates at the bike shop. Let's see what they say. I suspect I will have to chalk this one to experience. This is about 6 grand a year in fork servicing (3 major services and 3 lowers service a year - wife rides more than me). Maybe better to skip services, buy a new one when required. Which is pretty much what I have been doing, up to now. It was taking 4 to 5 years to trash the fork when I only serviced the fork when it gave an issue.
jakes1001 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 @Martin PJit's sad to say this if service intervals are maintained, not riding on lockout all the time and someone who knows what they are doing with suspension you should not have these hefty bills to fork out Robbie Stewart 1
Robbie Stewart Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I have 11000km on my Rockshock Revelation and apart from some crash-inflicted scratches on the stanchions they are holding up very well. I don't service them nearly as often as I should and I don't have any issues. I also don't ride them locked out all the time. I will lock them out if I remember to do so, but generally, I just leave them unlocked. dasilvarsa and Mtree 2
Marcv Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Seeing this topic has a lot of knowledgeable people on it, can you bend the damper shaft if locked out and you take a big hit? And if it is locked out alot would the air side still compress a bit but cause the lower to twist at an angle into the bushing?
