Yeah I'm keen. Let's just get behind this mountain surfing expedition at Jonkers on Sunday and then I'm going to start messing around for sure to see what's possible.

Or….bring it to me and i’ll do a single speed conversion for you and tou can stop worrying about gears and ratios because you’ll always be in the wrong gear anyway. We can do 32-20 ratio on yours. Like a nice mid cassette ratio. Where you live during the week is perfect SS territory. Not too hilly. And a SS bike is arguably the fastest way to build fitness. And they are just fun!

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to stick to the gearing for now. I am not keen on pedaling up the trails I frequent on a ratio that low. You know me. I am not built slightly. 😆

Yes yes, but I was talking about the less used hardtail for plonking around the neighbourhood.

The Levo and Levo SL are governed to 32kph and then Terro X and Creo are  45kph ;)

Yeah the actual bikes are normally well over what is allowed… but EU legislation has them maxed at 25 or 250W, anything above that requires a speed bike license. This will force manufacturers to focus on range/ rather than all out power mr thinks. But you’ll always get tuned backyard options…😜

You're in for a treat.

Took it for the first ride yesterday, and... Holy crap.

Coming from the combo of an SL1 and EVO, I was expecting the simple combo of EVO handling with assistance. But it's even better. The extra weight low down makes it even more planted than the EVO, and that's saying something. Until now, out of the more than 30 bikes I've had, the Stumpy was the best handling of them all. This beats it. Not by a large margin, but it does.

It's stable, planted, with tons of traction, but somehow still playful (I run it with a 29er rear wheel, not the stock mullet setup). The most incredible thing to me is how quiet it is. The first-gen SL is a noisy machine, not as much the motor whirring (which doesn't bother me), but in terms of rattles and clunks. This thing is dead quiet, as in ZERO noise except for the electric whir. It's eerie.

Best bike I've ever ridden.

Give it a couple of months and the creaking and clunking will start..... the usual ratio is R5-10k for 6 -9 month free pedalling

Other EBs I've ridden have had the noises I'm referring to from new. The Gen 1 has those. They're not "something is worn" or "something is broken" noises, they're just mechanical noises inherent to the design.

Same thing with SJs as they evolved over time, the four generations I have experience with have become increasingly more silent. Part of it is derailleur, chain and cassette improvements over time, but there is also a lot of cable and slap management which has been refined over time.

Removed reference to SRAM, Shimano obviously improved also...

Next time I see @MORNE with his "plaas hek" I'll let him try my bike and take a photo 😂

You were giving my new hardtail a few looks on saturday…so you dobt seem to have an issue with my plaashek bikes, next time you can have a go, just ask

I didn't say it's a lelike plaas hek 😁 that bike looks great plus it's a HT so naturally I was drawn to it 👌🏻 I would just need to grow a little 😂
