I listen to the Move without a missing beat, it's really good. regardless of what you think of any of them

I listen to them all the time Johan always has brilliant insights and provides an insight into the mind of a DS like no one else does.

Lance does the narcisstic winner mindset while George gives us the touchy feely domestique. Its brilliant, feels like being a team bus

Is there a new one built since I moved?

Ok ok ok world class was maybe stretching it a bit far but it was once upon a time, world class that is,.....its just that the world has moved on, raised the bar and shortened the track. Bellville is 333.33m and the latest tracks are 250m

Bellville Velodrome track is 250m?

(Why the self deprecation vibe from others? There is nothing wrong with Bellville Velodrome, is there?)

yes you're right its listed as 250m apologies my bad. Somehow it felt longer (been a long time since I rode it)

I don't know what the issues are. It was built as part of the bid requirements for 2004 Olympics. Its does not have a wooden floor so maybe thats the issue with "world class"?

Wasn't the big problem with the velodrome that it is in danger of getting shutdown and demolished? and the sidebar to that is it isn't used enough?

yes that's an ongoing saga. The property is being targeted by land developers for apartments or commercial property. This should detract from its suitability to host an international event though

Self depreciation is almost a Saffa speciality, particularly abroad sometimes.
Anyway, that really is encouraging news on the Bellville Velodrome, hope this helps with motivation for Hectors Norris in Gauteng.

I wouldn't say self depreciation, more like that it's not a world class facility. It's a slow track, it's cement etc. Nothing wrong to race track on but not world class.

Yes imagine doing 427 loops around Lady Loch as part of the road race. That’s pretty much what I envision they will come up with at Csa

Why would go to Lady Loch when you have Paarderberg

Ok from that perspective I agree its not world class as it stands. But it can be. It was supposed to get outfitted with a wooden floor.  I recall that it was basically built to a 80% completion and if we won the 2004 bid it would be completed to the required standard. The rest is history. It was not invested in again and with it being used for music concerts there was no way a wooden floor was going to be fitted.

I've not been to Birminghams drome for 13years but it was a superb facility but I didn't see any showstoppers when compared to Bellville for Bellville not to be brought up to the same standard.

Are there fundamental problems with Bellville? I've not been to the newest velodromes so my reference is only what I see on the box

I don't know track beyond the basics, but I would think spending bundles of cash on the discipline might benefit very few people.

Would guess there are much more deserving cycling projects out there with higher returns for a wider spectrum of people (on the assumption you can't fund them all)

Completely agree. Wasn't a dig at you, more a general comment on the self depreciation remark separately, I should have been clear.
