Approaching 200km its very early to judge.

I think Drikus is going too hard, Willie is the dark horse but inexperienced at this it will count against him this uncertainty - and his plan not to sleep hmmmm.

Thinus - too young his also not known for this distances. David is good but 800km to go still...

To me they all playing into the hands of Hansie.

You referring to Thinus, the other former Munga win-sharer?

This is nuts. 18 hours in

Drikus 470km

Thinus 431km

Willie 427km

Hansie 415km

If he can keep this up we have a new record! I might actually be able to go watch him cross the finishline over lunchtime tomorrow haha.

Chris van Zyl was third in the year Ramses set the 50hr record.

But this year is social for Chris. He rode up to the start from Cape Town with 2 mates in 4 days. So the legs should be warm now.... Not.

Water, 'n bietjie coke en baie chill!

Willie seems to be on a different bike from the one he was posing with in front of Bicycle shop further up in the thread?

Seems to be the same bike:

Yip, realised it wasn’t Willy in the video. Wanted to delete the post but could not figure out how so just wiped out the text.

So should one be on a gravel bike or MTB for this race. I thought there were lots of rocky jeep track sections later on that are "tricky" on a dropbar bike?
