Hey Guys,

I'm a bit of a weekend warrior. I mostly do the Big Red Bard 20km in just over an hour. It's pretty flat though. Will I be able to handle the 25km MTB route ok? I haven't done any races as I generally don't like competition events and the idea of many MTB'ers on a single track sounds off putting. But I'd like to do this event for a good cause. Not looking at setting any times.

Cheers

go forth and kill. Will miss this one, moto

Raining cats and dogs here in Alberhoughton.... Wonder what it's like for the 10/25k riders today

Ok just heard it's the same there ... Only a few riders actually ventured out onto the route apparently

Hopefully better tomorrow, come hell or high water (literally) we'll be riding. My boet here from New Zealand possibly for the last time so no choice!

They delayed the start due to lightning, but the rain wasn’t too bad on route. One section of terrible mud which caused a big queue of people pushing bikes through. Only got worse as more people went through…

Let's see how it is tomorrow

It was properly raining this morning when we left the house. Dried up nicely, peeps had a great time out there.

Will be there tomorrow again, my son is riding with his school.
I’m packing my bike and kit, hoping to get an entry at the gate. There were lots of non starters today due to the rain.
Unless someone has an entry kicking about?

Lots of smiles and a distinct lack of mud when i popped in to fetch some riders. I think the riders had a great time

Just one rant about the car guard who took it upon himself to create a traffic jam at the exit, by insisting people turn their car off and back on again. It sure helped when people started giving him the mutters and just drove off anyway

They were great, despite our concerns about rain and mud as usual neither happened 😁

Had good fun, started in the later bunches. Very little queuing and what there was cleared very quickly

A very different experience when you're not 'racing', stopped at the water points, chilled as long as necessary behind slower riders when needed.

Good laughs between the 3 musketeers, myself, my boet and son!

On to the road race, we'll be going with the same attitude 😎

Some gopro footage of the 50 km. You never know, perhaps you recognize yourself or someone you know.

Edit: We started in P, haven't entered any events in years so we started way back. Was an awesome route, especially after Saturdays mudfest which made it nice n smooth for us on the day. Suffered like a donkey, every rider infront was a big juicy carrot.
