Hi, I am looking for an affordable bike service in the Blouberg/Tableview area. Any recommendations will be much appreciated.

Cycle Teknix (on Blaauberg road) has a workshop. I don’t remember their pricing but was nothing out of the ordinary iirc.

May I recommend a different approach ?

Rather ask for the BEST workshops in your area

Prices wont differ that much, and frankly once you start going back to have the "cheapest service" sorted out it just aint worth it any more.

To really save money in the long run .... learn how to do the basics yourself, and only book in your bike for major services.

West Coast Cycles in Sandown by the Checkers Hyper is not badly priced and the service is good.

So not that place that cut your brake hoses and attached the new levers to the old callipers?

Isn't that place in Durbanville? If that's the case, the OP might just be safe 😂

I have a tendency to mentally repress bad memories. Thanks for reminding me. Also, since my Stumpy I've only been to the south for service. But I'll be personally taking my bikes to Knipe in future. Only had good service there, ever.

It must be said though, took my bike to CycleTeknix once and was told to collect after 6 days. After booking the bike in and driving past West Coast I decided screw that I want my bike seeing as it was day one of my holiday, so I collected the bike from CycleTeknix and took it to West Coast. The bike was fixed while I stood there having coffee. I was riding that arvie versus going without a bike for a week ...

Seems like finding a good bike shop with decent service is really tough these days.😔

Indeed. Between living in town and the north, I tried a number of shops for convenience, and almost always learned the hard way with most.

Now, if I need something minor/quick, I got to Specialized Tygerberg. Great staff, service and price. If I have time or want the full shebang done, I don't consider anyone other than Sportopia. I either drive to salt river, or more recently, make use of their pickup service. 10/10 27/4

Intrigued by Sportopia's pick-up service. I wasn't aware that anyone offered something like that, to be honest.

What's the process and turnaround time like?

I recall Bicycle Maintenance Centre - BMC, Salt River having something similar.

I speak under correction, but think it was a subcontracted service.

Keen to hear about Sportopia's service offer.

Also great to to see Sportopia growing as they have.
