On very dusty rides the Squirt ebike lube lasts longer than Smoove.

Probably just anecdotal .... but if it works it works 👍

yeah, moving back to Squirt...I prefer the way it goes on without dripping everywhere...

The key to getting the best performance from a hot-dipped waxed chain is starting with a chain that’s 100% spotless.
While you can use a previously ridden chain, the challenge is getting it completely clean — it often takes multiple deep cleans. The ideal approach is to begin with a brand-new chain and strip off the factory grease before waxing.
The first two images in this post show a dirty, used chain. It was manually cleaned several times before being placed in an ultrasonic cleaner. The last two images show the same chain fully cleaned and ready for waxing. The scale photo reveals 2 grams of grime — what we call "grinding paste" — that was removed during the process.
We offer a professional chain cleaning and waxing service for those who want to skip the hassle. Alternatively, contact us and we’ll direct you to the nearest workshop that provides the service — though, unfortunately, it’s still not widely available.

I just ditched Squirt for Enduro Wax. Tired of scraping off RD pulleys and blocked Squirt nozzles - just me personally, not the same Squirt I started with.

If you use a drip lube that doesn’t have oil in it like Silca super secret or UFO drip then you don’t need to strip and clean the chain again before doing another hot wax.

Oh pray do tell what African magic is this non oil lube….?

Wax lubes where the carrier liquids are not oil based but water based.

regardless, there is oil in there...Those lubes use water as the solvent and not a hydrocarbon but there is oil in there.

This is why  love reading chain lube threads. So much entertainment in pseudoscience.

Fact 1: Enduro Chain wax works - it adheres very well to metal. Where most lubes fail is because the polar bonds of the original lube isn't broken by the lube being applied over it. Enduro Lube also has an effective solid lubricant inside that is held in suspension.

Fact2: all chainlubes have oil. Wax contains oil. the amount of oil is important. To much and the wax is too fluid, too pliable and it is forced out under pressure, too little and the paraffin structures can't move past each other without breaking making the observed wax too brittle. The water is just a carrier. the oil provides the right mount of ductility.

Yeah not a lube engineer, so apologies for the poor language and thanks for the clarification.

Nice to see the Enduro wax is available now at a third of the price of the Silca stuff and it seems to have similar additives.

I thought it was just me that had the blocked nozzle, although I fixed this by changing nozzles from an older bottle, so perhaps a bottle design issue rather than a product issue.

re: RD pulleys, I wipe and lube once a week. I've found if I put to much lube on then the pulleys build up muck. But have just made it a habbit to run a screw driver over them after wiping down the chain.

No worries. You okes are fed so much BS by product marketers in the cycling industry that the truth is a muddied concept. Chain Lube are amongst the worst culprits.

Enduro Wax is  the real deal. Silca ....I won't say anything further other than what i have in previous posts about overpriced snake oils. There's a few more that

Shawn has put a lot of development time into his Enduro range of products. He tests, formulates, asks for testers opinions and reformulates iteratively. Where the sealants and lubricants have landed is the result of extreme passion for what he's doing and enlisting the help of highy experienced people in the fields of Lubricating Engineering and chemistry.

I got tired of unblocking with a paper clip 😁 Done about 12-15 rides on Enduro Wax and no build up worthy of mention and quiet, quiet, quiet.

Had the pleasure to work with Shawn a bit, very passionate, particularly about product quality.....

Most Riders are not going to take off chains just to get a lube.

Guess "Second Best" is Going to have to do for Me.

I'm Very Happy with Squirt and my Chains last at least 15000 Km. (Mtb)

I use Silca Secret Wax and OrangeSeal. I'm completely converted to the immersion waxing methodology, mostly because it feels like way LESS hassle than cleaning chains all the time (I recently had a trip with a hired bicycle and had to go back to drip lube - no thanks). A local source of premium hotwax will be awesome - I'll buy some soon. Would it be a waste to mix the EnduroWax with the last bit of Silca I have left?

Regarding sealant - I tried EnduroSeal before on my road bike and found it extremely lacking beyond like 3 bar. Recently also had issues on my gravel bike where it just would not seal a very small hole beyond 1.5 bar. In both cases Orangeseal sorted it pretty much permanently. Based on what I'm reading here, I think I might just have gotten a dud batch (or kept it too long) and I will try again.

I concur...my drivetrains last forever with Squirt or Smoove so definitely do not need the faff of waxing:)
