Any recommendations for women's cycling pants or bibs? Which brand should I look out for?

Ykywbike make a really good woman’s pair of bibs with a magnetic clasp at the back for nature breaks. Comes with the red Elastic Interface pad. I think you can find them on AliExpress for around R600 each and shipping is pretty quick - maybe a week to your door.

Bit off topic, but seems like the best place to ask this question. Has anyone tried ordering directly through the website from some of the major Aliexpress clothing brands? I see that Ykyw and Darevie both have websites with most of the same stuff they have on Ali. The official website seems to be more expensive than the equivalent on Aliexpress, but the last few times I've done an order on Aliexpress I've been hit with a import/customs fee that's nearly the same cost as what I paid for the item, so I've been curious if it would be a more sane amount from the website.

The problem with Alixpress is, it comes via imile/Meili and they shafting us in SA because they asking higher import custom price and don't inform at what rate and for what under what code. I mailed them to give me invoice but no responds.  I still need to mail them and CC SARS and Consumer Protection department in my mail to see if they will respinds. There is some info ona MBB where people took imile/meili on and complaining and reporting them at SARS.

Few years ago I imported some cycling clothing via Aliexpress that came via Sapo and that went really smooth, just waiting game.

Yeah, that checks with my experience. Temu has usually been far more reasonable, often to the extent I think they're doing something shady with how low their customs fees are compared to what I estimate they should be.

But if the manufacturers use different courier companies when ordering direct, it might end up being cheaper than through Aliexpress, even if the base price is higher.

Anyone have any recommendations for cycling jackets off of Temu? Ideally something that has at least some water resistance, even if it may not be as good as getting one of the big name brands.

Apologies for not actually answering your question on Temu, but do have a look at Decathlon for winter cycling kit. Pricing not too bad and you might have a store near you if you’re based in JHB. If not, ordering online and returns have been easy.

Morning 🙂

Does anyone have any experience with any power meters that they have bought from Temu or Aliexpress? Any brands worth trying out?

Thanks!

@dbotha

I bought a geoid pm500 off alixpress for 3.5k in total. I haven't had any issues so far. My power meter reads very close to my friends power meters like stages and favero's. There have been independent tests aswell with it and it reads the same as favero's.

Save your money if considering one of these https://gplama.com/2026/03/05/coospo-s10-power-meter-review/  There are a number of cheap generic branded ones, but they are all the same, See what GPlama thinks of them

It seems many South Africans are extremely happy to be building the Chinese Empire… the real problem arises when we bring up the words:

-Customer Service

-Guarantee

im still Temu & Alli Free. 👌🏻the bargain virus dragon will never bite me!💪🏻

Serious questions incoming;

Why is it a problem buying things from China? What naughty things has 'The Chinese Empire' done?

Which countries are you happy to import things from/buy things imported from?

I am genuinely interested why you feel so justified sitting atop such a high horse

The PC or phone he busy typing from is from China. Most of the stuff that is on his bike is made in China... 😆

I have been using a SIGEYI AXO PM bought on AliExpress and it’s been perfect. It’s a bit pricier than the versions coming out now. My wife has a Coospo S10 PM which does the job for her. I can’t get it to show the issues GPlama complained about in his review.

Also, I’d rather be supporting the Chinese right now. At least they aren’t making the world more expensive to live in… I have had some pretty good interactions with Chinese companies and support recently. Painting every seller on aliex / Temu with the same brush is a bit stupid IMO.
