you are welcome to ride any of the routes tomorrow , just close any gates if you find them closed👍

Apologies for the hijack... this all year around...

I camp atleast twice in December January in Greyton might need a gravel bike as a n+1 soon

Posted

Glad to hear you all enjoyed it...

Next year I will ask the organizers to put out some more food stands [we offered free space to food vendors but there was no interest]

I will include the forest and an extra section on some interesting jeep\single track to make it a true 130km ...maybe longer

A beer tent would be nice too...but the alcohol licence story is a headache.

We will endeavour to keep the price of the entry quite low...compared to some of the other exorbitant gravel race entry fees I have been seeing of late..

Why not try and get a Craft Beer manufacturer/supplier on board, and make the Liquor License his problem if he wants to expose his product to a captive market.

Fantastic event. Interesting route with good amount of variety. I loved it!

Doesn’t that local  coffee shop have a mobile coffee trailer? Seems like a missed opportunity to make 100+ coffees on race morning. Or perhaps Seattle would send a crew up for the day.

Hi Guido

Excellent event, excellent route (had something for everybody), great vibe. Hope to be back next year.

My 2c, test your idea to add forest singletrack with other riders as well. Personally I think most (of the long route gravel riders at least) would not really appreciate singletrack right at the finish after 4 to 6 hours in the saddle, by then you just want to be done with the race and a singletrack detour through a forest not a particularly fun concept. Check the thread for race 2 the sea for how that concept was received on their race. Maybe something that will work better for the shorter distances.

A pity there wasn't a beer tent, our group ended up socialising at the nearest restaurant where beer was available... We assumed it was because the venue was at a church 😂

yup , agreed on not having singletrack right at the end… but will definitely include some beautiful extra gravel/ singletrack in the middle section 👍

To say I enjoyed that big climb in the middle would be wrong but I appreciated the challenge 😀 Good to have something like that in a race, even the sketchy downhill afterwards wasn't too bad!
