Looking for some guidance on gravel bike sizing, please.  I am 1,75m.

At first glance, similar to MTB -

Not surprisingly, like my other Giant products are also M.

Certainly very surprised with the Merida size chart.  Either on the upper end of S, or just on the M range.

I note that Hub classifieds use cm sizing .... no experience with this ....

I’m 1.75 m tall and ride a medium Revolt. But pretty sure a small frame would work for a more aggressive setup, as my seatpost is not very far extended (I have short legs). This makes for a relaxed drop to the handles, even with the stem slammed.

As mentioned, rather speak to a good bike fitter beforehand, as total length does not give the full picture.

Just to add more to your confusion.

I ride a Large merida 96 MTb

a 54cm road

a 56cm gravel with shorter stem. Although longer than my road bike it is a lot more relaxed fit than my road bike. Stem being higher and saddle to bar length almost the same. with gravel you don't want to be TO nippy.

for clarification i am 1.79cm so i sit on the M/L threshold. at 1.75 i would go smack bang 54(M) and tweak the setup with stem length and bar width.

Im 177 and on a 54 gravel bike.. it fits well but richard did say i would actually be ideal on a 53.. slightly bigger is better to fit than slightly too small..🤘🏻

Just noting that sizing between brands (and often within brands between models, or even years) is a complete dogshow.

Example, comparing 2 different years of Spez Diverge to a Trek Checkpoint, all ostensibly size "56"

Geometry Geeks is your friend here, work out what your desired stack and reach are and then find the size that most closely matches that. If between, size down.

I am 177cm and find the M Giant Revolt fits me well.

Although I could in theory stretch to a M/L, I preferred a medium stem so that I could add a Redshift shock-stopper that I had already, but also a longer stem is more stable and less twitchy. I have a Pyga for mountain biking and use my gravel bike on gravel roads.

If you are more inclined to single track and picking your way through difficult stuff (i.e. towards the mountain biking end of gravel), then longer reach, shorter stem, wider bars may be better.

If you prefer long-distance bombing down gravel roads and ultra events, then shorter reach and longer stem may be more stable, less taxing, and more efficient.

Keegan Swensen is my height and on a small Santa Cruz with a long stem for ultra events.

Will save you much faffing. If she's already got your measurements she may even be able to recommend based on TT length or reach.
