But they will definitely allow you in Cat 3 Haven't done Atlantis in a while but its a nice circuit to race, unfortunately I have another race on that weekend. I see you were just about on the podium there.... Skubarra 1

So after Kalbaskraal when legs in the bunch were starting to fade a few of us upped the pace to thin out the bunch before the final sprint. I'm not a sprinter at all so that tactic suited me very well 😁 Mamil 1

Kelson Elena Da Cruz Posted January 27 Posted January 27 The Philadelphia route is very flat to break away, too much firepower in the bunch 😉 DieselnDust 1

Kelson Elena Da Cruz Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I never seen a year on the league that suits climbers or Time Trial riders , most of the routes are flats ! Either way is a good training routes 😉 DieselnDust 1
Naidy Posted January 27 Posted January 27 There was a few before. Like Red hill race and another in Stellies. DieselnDust and Skubarra 2

I remember a few years back PPA and WP league co-operated and then the league races included Helshoogte, Ou Kaapse Weg & Vissershok climbs & Philadelphia was the only race without a big climb. Was never much of a climber and could always quite easily point out exactly where on the route the bunch was going to drop me 🤣 Naidy 1
Kelson Elena Da Cruz Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Unfortunately no proper hills and No individual Time Trial as well , I can’t understand how the youngsters can become a competitive on the highest levels without ITT , I been saying this for years but sounds like nobody is interested here in Western Cape , just look the top 5 best PRO riders in the world they are all a exceptional ITT

Ended up being a big day out but I definitely have the sense that I'm outgunned in Cat 2 - even though that first lap was slow .... I think for Atlantis I'll sign up for Cat 3 - I think I'm allowed to do that? Probably have to buy another number. Mamil! Were you the one I asked about the 2 bottles extra behind the saddle? Coming from obs side? Well done on a long ride!

Strong ride again well done! Can I ask a curious question? Why are you riding Cat 3 when everyone knows you are too strong for that Cat?
Kelson Elena Da Cruz Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hi Andy , I see this races as a training opportunity my goal are ; SA champs , WC champs , Tour Du Cap and winning my age Cat on the Cycle Tour. I can’t get much effort sucking wheels on CAT1 or Cat2 and the distance are not suitable for my goals so CAT3 is a perfect distance and I rather be doing 320w for 2 hours than 190w on the draft 😉 DieselnDust, Rowl and andydude 3

My riding is like good draught beer - long and slow! andydude and Naidy 2
Bub Marley Posted January 27 Posted January 27 The Slanghoek route has a mini climb in there. Enough to at least cause a split in the bunch I think. Still not really a climbers course but there is more elevation. I am concerned though about that low lying bridge on that route just before the climb. Last time I went over there it was in a terrible state and full of potholes.
