MTB Brakes

Looking at replacing my Magura MT8 SL due to lever failures. 
I am looking at Formula Cura X , XTR ,sram ultimate stealth

2 piston versions

I need advice please.  Mainly for XC riding.

Swallow the weight penalty and get some SRAM Code Brakes. You can then downsize your rotors probably. If you are extremely weight sensitive get the XTR.

Cant go wrong with 4 pots 

I run xtr 2 pot system on a 200mm and 180mm rotor and the stopping power isnt as good as these deore 4 pots

If you are choosing between those, and 2 pot, the Formula Curas are monster stoppers in my experience. I use the non X version 2-pots on a 17kg enduro bike and they rival many 4-pot brakes ito stopping power and modulation. I like them so much i have 2 sets on different bikes. The X version just cuts weight but is the same epic system. Extra bonus is all the spares/parts are available locally - more than you can say for shimano or even sram in some instances. 
 

i like shimano brakes…but nothing more expensive than SLX -  so you don't cry when you have to throw them away when they break because you cant find parts.

if you are shopping in XTR territory, don't forget about Hope’s. (XCR X2 etc) Fully rebuildable locally too. Nice bling too.

You can also use Shimano levers with the Magura calipers.

Otherwise Merlin Cycles have XT two pots on sale at the moment for a steal

Cura X all the way, super happy with mine, the stopping power is nuts. In my case I found them a bit too hardcore, so calmed them down a bit with Shimano rotors. XTR are great if you are less than 85kg, don’t understand why there is such a difference between XT vs XTR in terms of stopping power. The Cura X are super bling! Titanium fitting and Kevlar hoses for the win! But you knew that already I’m sure…

I would definitely do the Shigura conversion if I was in your shoes...
