Until it inevitably bricks itself (as they do) and you are left with a device you cant exchange locally😅

Got my F7 hand-imported from the USA. Garmin SA replaced (and upgraded to Pro) the unit 6 months past its warranty expiration when I ran into hardware issues.

The win: Garmin SA stepped up

The loss: hardware issues on what's supposed to a premium (based on price at least) and one of the most robust multisport watches out there.

Although i’m not sure what the duties are on electronics or watches (if any), bringing it in through an online retailer will likely mean that price will be Ex VAT, customs handeling fees and whatever duties SARS deem fit. So as per shopping bike parts which draw 0% duties…expect to ad about 25% ish on top of what you pay.

Then with things like this with built in communication tech…you always run the risk of things getting stuck if someone realises it has to be ICASA approved. Garmin products are on their lists.

provably better to get a friend to buy and bring in a suitcase.

I must say Amazon are pretty good with this, I've ordered a lot from them and they don't normally get the costing wrong. Having said that I don't know what the ICASA implications are...

F3 - 3yrs, was still working, sold it

F5 - 2yrs, was still working, sold it

F945 - 5yrs, recently sold it

Now have the F255, which I picked up cheap, I expect it to also last years.

For me, I have not suffered with garmin issues and that includes the Edge 500, 520 and 130 plus over the years

Yeah, long may it continue, I am firmly in the Garmin ecosystem with all my devices used and then sold on without any issues. Tactix, 5pro, 6pro, 7xpro, edge 530, index scale etc. Now running the Fenix 8 and edge 840 and 1050. With varia lights all working beautifully.

HI, i have just upgraded to Garmin 8 and the prices on Amazon.co.za were by far the best. Don't need nor want the fancy bells and whistles like solar and titanium and sapphire etc. Local purchases owing to warranty suport as well.

Just FYI - use or lose..

Hey man, I just posted a listing for a new 7x Pro SS at R18 000. I do understand if that is too pricey though.
I am not sure exactly what the second hand markets are like for these, so I am also open to some negotiation.
I would also appreciate any insight or thoughts from anyone else on the pricing :)
