New looks at the Lyne or Rapide options locally, otherwise check the classifieds for the same thing or a bunch of other options.

Lyne carries spares locally

What do you consider to be a reasonable price?

You tell me.

Well if you want a post that will last along time and is supported by the distributor then spend a little more. The One Up V3 dropper is about R5500, seems very durable and doesn’t develop slop like the cheap posts do. I’ve had a Lyne and even before it was a year old it developed a lot of slop and was told that’s just how all posts are. Then once the warranty had expired it turned out the outer tube was worn and they didn’t have a spare part for that. Never again. You get what you pay for.
So to me a reasonable price for a quality dropper is between R5000 and R6000.

i want my kit to work and work reliably. If slop is acceptable then I may as well not service my pivot bearings either 😟

I cant agree on the Lyne - we have a 100mm drop version on one of our bikes and its been flawless despite very little maintenance. Of course it may have seen less use than DnD's but it has no signs of wear and I havent had to change the keys in over 5 years. A little bit of side to side play, but that is actually normal for most dropper posts and is not a sign of a failing post.

I bought a very early Bontrager dropper that I got cheap on the Hub as the buyer made no secret of the fact it has a lot of play. (You can rebuild the old ones and the newer ones have a keyway you can buy).

It has huge play but you do NOT notice the play at all while you're riding.

I agree about Lyne. I have a 125mm dropper on my Camber that has over 455 hours on it. Minimal lateral movement after all that time and it has never been serviced.

On my Stumpjumper I've got the stock X-Fusion dropper, with 132 hours since new, and it's been serviced after 56 hours.

The Lyne has not given me any issues, and the X-Fusion is currently getting stuck at the bottom every now and then needing me to pull it up again.

Lyne droppers even with loads of use and it gets a little bit of movement it's +-R300 for a service kit and a service takes a couple of minutes with minimal tools required. Back to new 👌🏼

Hi guys. Is anyone struggling to get stock of Lyne droppers and spares?
I am looking at the V3 31.6 with 125mm drop, under bar lever and it seems they have a stock issue at the moment. I have tried a couple LBS near me (trail wolf, ridgeway and CL boksburg) and both had a similar story.

What's the oneup like?

I am looking in the 4k to 5k price range but I want something that is serviceable.
