I thought this debate had been settled years ago!?

...and to quote someone on MTBR...:

"Nothing compares to hydraulic schmooooov. Using cables feels like pulling barbed wire out of a badgers a$$"

Regarding my comments, i should probably point out that i ride singletrack very aggresively.

I'm not saying i'm good at it or anything like that, it's just that i enjoy it more the faster i go so am heavy on the brakes.

V's simply cannot touch the power and modulation of a decent set of discs when you're pushing ten/tenths

I'll be honest my XTRdfiscs weren't as great as I thought they would be in the wet......litle bit of a let down, but could be possible that in those same conditions the V's would have been non existant ??

I know that V-brakes are non-existant in snowUnhappy Haven't tried discs, but by listening to all the gadget-crazy locals i'd say go for discs.

I'd say it depends on what you want to do... XC MTB racing, I would say its hard to beat the discs, as for trials, the perfect setup would prolly include discs on front wheel, due to their feathering capabilities, and V on the rear, as no disc beats the static grip of a V brake!
