Cars and indicators

I don't know if the same happens anywhere else, but in Cape Town cars only turn on their indicators when they are already turning. They will stand at an intersection without any indicator and when they start rolling turn the indicator on. Why do they bother? I mean, if I can't see that the car is turning, what difference is the indicator going to have?

I had to take many emergency reactions do to this stupid behaviour. Does it happen anywhere else? Am I the only one finding this un-acceptable?

They dont want to burn out their indicator bulbs.

I have heard people say that indicating to turn left is a courtesy.

I drive the latest BMW, the salesmen said indicators are an optional extras on 90% of all BMW.... I decided to do without and to use the money for spinners. Cool

Embarrassed

I did a little research and it came to my attention that all cars on the road  indicators are an optional extraAngry

I saw the spec sheets for the BMWs. You either get indicators or the attitude, but not both. The problem is, the indicators costs R50 000 but attitude is free. So guess what most people choose. LOL

I had an incident exactly like this yesterday, my revenge was ripping the idiot's mirror off trying to keep myself upAngry The best part was the look on his face as profanities exploded from my mouthEmbarrassed

Does this make me guilty of a hit and run offense though?Confused

I love it when there is always the joker lightening the burden, but a little more seriously though. Are we not all driving cars occasionally? What do we do? Do we join the "take out the stupid bycycle" brigade? And what about that mirror if it happen to be on your car? What do you think your reaction will be?

My car comes standard with indicatorsEmbarrassed and even though it's the most irritating thing in the world I actually use them. So if a cyclist should knock it off its probably because he/she riding too close to the car so I'd be pretty ticked off yes but in a situation like mine, where the guy just turned, no indicator or even a look in the mirror I think trying to keep myself from falling under his wheels was pretty justified.

I gave up on motorists about a year ago.

They are ALL a bunch of no-brainers.  If something positive actually happens, I see it as a rare clear moment.......

Otherwise....expect the unexpected.  Prepare for the worst and you will be fine.

Riding in traffic is actually fun.  You get to check out all the lovely lady drivers.  Make people smile when you moer down, loosing your balance.  And you practice sign language.

FUN I tell you!!!!
