Anyone here listen to A Perfect Circle....? Loving the 'Emotive' album at the moment.

This track is one of my current favs....'Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums'

Don't know if this is the official video, but if it is, it sure as hell is a fine piece of commentary on good old G.W.Bush.

It's an interesting album, with the track you mentioned and only 1 other being original on the album. The rest are all covers by well know artists including John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin.... It's not bad, just "not my bag" smiley1.gif Much prefer Mer de Noms, but even that is not heavy enough... smiley1.gif

The Distance by Cake

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line

Engines pumping and thumping in time

The green light flashes; the flags go up

Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup

They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank

Fuel burning fast on an empty tank

Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns

Their prowess is potent and secretly stern

As they speed through the finish, the flags go down

The fans get up, and they get out of town

The arena is empty, except for one man

Still driving and striving as fast as he can

The sun has gone down and the moon has come up

And long ago somebody left with the cup

But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns

And thinking of someone for whom he still burns

He's going the distance

He's going for speed

She's all alone (All alone)

All alone in her time of need

Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course

He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse

He's going the distance

Ahh, ahh

Yah! Oh!

No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no line

He's haunted by something he cannot define

Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse

Assail him, impale him with monster truck force

In his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade

She's hoping in time that her memories will fade

'Cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course

He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse

The sun has gone down and the moon has come up

And long ago somebody left with the cup

But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns

And thinking of someone for whom he still burns

'Cause he's going the distance

He's going for speed

She's all alone (All alone)

All alone in her time of need

Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course

He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse

He's racing and pacing and plotting the course

He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse

He's going the distance

He's going for speed

He's going the distance

Ahh, ahh, hey!

Hey!

It's the fact that most of the tracks on Emotive are covers that really caught my attention. I think every one of their versions is a brilliant interpretation of the original. It's not easy taking a well-known song with an established history and an established sound in an audience's mind and then re-working it to still sound flippen brilliant....which is what I feel they've achieved.

I mean really....how many hard rock bands can take Joni Mitchell's 'Fiddle And The Drum' and do an a capella version of it....?

Perfect Circle's

THAT'S the best song on the album!

I have to be honest, I don't really bother spending money on death metal. When I'm in the mood for it I just switch on my radio, turn the volume up and tune it so it doesn't pick up any signal....to each his own, eh! smiley2.gif

Roberta Flack - Killing me softly with his song

her song...

Huh? smiley5.gifsmiley5.gif

"Roberta" Flack' date=' a she , her song

No....sorry....but she(Roberta) is singing about a he

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

I heard he sang a good song

I heard he had a style

And so I came to see him

To listen for a while

And there he was this young boy

A stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

I felt all flushed with fever

Embarassed by the crowd

I felt he found my letters

And read each one out loud

I prayed that he would finish

But he just kept right on

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

He sang as if he knew me

In all my dark despair

And then he looked right through me

As if I wasn't there

And he just kept on singing

Singing clear and strong

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

[break]

Strumming my pain with his fingers

Singing my life with his words

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

Killing me

He was strumming my pain

Yeah, he was singing my life

Killing me softly with his song

Killing me softly with his song

Telling my whole life with his words

Killing me softly

With his song
