errmm... did any of you guys notice the thread topic?  I hate to point out that Leo Sayer and Paul McCartney were hardly into the rave culture... but good going guys, now at least we all know how old you plonkers are LOL

so' date=' what would be the record that a rave band(does that actually exist) lasted? 1 week, 2 .... maybe 4???Ermm[/quote']

No such thing, Rave or EDM (Electronic Dance Music) doesn't have bands perse.

It's a single or collaborative of DJs and/or Producers, there are number who have been around for years.

Paul van Dyk, Pacha, Digital Rockitt etc...

The bizarre thing is that even though the music has gone very much underground, especially locally, there is now such a variety of genres and sub genres.

Trance, hard trance, uplifting trance, psy-trance, break beats, drum 'n bass, progressive, electro, house, hard house, deep house, funky... etc etc etc etc

... sasha, john digweed, infected mushroom, tiesto, armand van helden, bob sinclair, eric prydz, frankie knuckles, growling mad scientists, the list goes on... each one of these have been on the scene for at least 10 years, both doing their own stuff and collaborations, and ranging from cheezy as bad nachos commercial to some of the top shelf-est underground...

But yes, there are a lot of one hit wonders, the same as 5fm... when last did you hear of *ack* whigfield or *chunder* ace of base? Even Plain White T's, with all the hype around their one big one, will not be heard from again IMHO.

Electronic music is about the fastest evolving of all, mainly because a killer record can come from a kid playing on his PC, not some git with no talent making hit after radio hit (mostly written by someone else) just because MTV put them out there.

My 2 cents worth...

ace of base certainly could not be considered rave... their music is POP... and it still rocks Wink

That's kinda the point I was trying to make... PWT's are def not rave either (or 'uplifting trance' as them who don't like the term would call it)

Someone bring me a warehouse party... all this talk's making me need one... smiley16.gif

I've been going to the urban wave parties when they come around - closest thing you'll find to a proper old skool jol. David Guetta played some REAL back in the day stuff in his set. I feel kinda old at these things, but... I don't give a SH!T!!! Guess that's cos I'm a 28 yr old kid    smiley17.gif

And I thought they knew bugger all about music, now I know it! And now I also know why I usually don't watch MTV.
