Are these two savage men actually riding on horseback with unkempt masculine, blonde hair and unbuttoned shirts and is the damsel riding sidesaddle and gazing back at them seductively with a coy smile whilst approaching the sunset confidently with her red lantern ablaze????

Idiots like those two without lights give cyclists a bad name. Remember people, we have every right to be on the road just as every motorist but with this comes responsibility. We need to be visible to all road users at all times. The woman had every right to at least inform those 2 ignorant buggers of the importance of visibility.

 

 

 

Also, its irrelevant whether or not the woman was rude, she did her duty as a concerned cyclist and its NEVER ok to slap anyone so fellow hubbers do not condone this kind of behavior.

Like I said, I don't really care either way. I said what I thought. I made it clear that I don't agree with either of the cyclists abuse. A few of my comments you'll need to read between the lines to get. I don't really care to know all your personal details. It's a public forum. I have the right to restrict information if I choose to. Some people on the forum are my friends, others are not. If you don't like my opinion, then don't. I'm free to say how I feel. That's called freedom of speech and expression. think about it, none of it really sounds very plausible. i don't believe any of it happened the way it was presented. even if they were characters with knuckles dragging on the ground when they walk and full of testosterone to boot. chase after a defenseless woman and slap her because she says "where the ****are your lights?" i don't think so .... there is either more (or a lot less probably) to this story than has been told.

That has become irrelevant.

Take it as a hypothetical situation.

The response by certain members of the Hub is appalling and is a poor reflection on our behaviour as human beings.

Bigotry,chauvanism and plain bad behaviour is rife and cannot be tolerated in a modern society.

Individuals who display this kind of behaviour are dinosours and should be isolated,cut from the pack and dealt with accordingly.I think its disgusting that they even identify themselves as fellow cyclists/hubbers and I disassociate myself from them as should all of you.

a few thoughts:

 

a year ago i was a regular early morning cyclist. I had my Nightlightnings on thebar and helmet and was out on the road at 05h00. Its dark that time of the morning.

 

Riding down Main rd would be a rather lonely prossession. Often I would have riders latch onto my rear wheel without announcing that they are there and asking if its ok to ride that close to me.

No sure, its a public road but my personal space is NOT public. On a bike that personal space extends 2m behind me and 2m in front. Come any closer an you better be passing through. If you stay there you WILL be asked to remove yourself to a safer following distance.

They are violating the safety mechanisms that I use to protect myself. For one they muffle the sound of oncoming traffic from the rear and never communicate. They will use your slipstream and then try to accelerate past and drop you. Never fails. They also obscure your flashing rear light because 9 out of 10 people think lights are too uncool to fit to their bikes.

 

So I feel that this lady was right to feel angered by these two leaches riding behind her.

I feel she had every right to ask them to back off or ride in front.

 

Mostly likely they mocked her requested with a typical SAFFA male chauvinistic reply which angered the lady further. So she resorted to swearing.

Perfectlyu understandable. Anger is a valid emotion and as long as it is confined to verbal expression, it fine. When it escalates to physical expression (the slap) then it has reached a level that is unacceptable.

 

She is a woman, not a child. Children get hidings for swearing at adults because they need to be taught discipline, but adults sort their issues out in a mature manner because adults can communicate and have a deeper level of understanding that goes beyond cause and effect.

 

So these two neaderthals..... actually this is unfair to Neaderthal man because it turns out he was an intelligent homonid. These two MTB'rs are nothing more than thugs really.

 

firstly, theres the 2 against 1 scene

secondly they were leaching off the lady  (slipstreaming)

thirdly they did not ask if they could invade her personal space (so a similar mentality to a rapist)

lastly they then assaulted her by creeping up on her, surprisingher and then slapping her.

 

It's a pity that she does not have a good description of these two because  she should have laid a charge against these two. Stalking and aggrevated assault would catch their attention quickly.

 

a description of these primitive fellas would be helpful. I think they need a cup of coffee and a good talking too.
