While I'm all for freedom of choice, and I believe everyone has the right to become an organ donor if they want. I just saw a tjop down the road from my LBS on his mountain bike with out a helmet.

Nope, I actually saw quite a few skiers wear helmets last year when I was out near Swissvan's haunt.  You been out skiing lately?

ja its not common as the risk of head injuries is really low. but if you put one on, you end up doing stuff like this.

Just to proove my point, see the young free style skiirs wearing headgear.  Just the old, slow folk wear beanies.  Which makes sense.  You have to go fast enough, or do something radical to actually do some damage!

Won't go skiing without mine anymore, on piste, off piste, park.

Knocked my head in the Halfpipe once, was wearing a helmet and I was still dazed.

You can get some serious speed on the piste, one of the guys I worked with had a GPS watch and when we took some guests of for a ski-bob, we decided we would test it out. Suprised ourselves when it read 115km/h and we weren't going that fast.

The worst are the beginners who lose control but manage to stay on their feet. I cringe when I see it

The majority of swiss skiers / boarders wear helmets and if i'm not mistaken its law for kids U16. There's talk about making it mandatory for all. We wear helmets.

I started wearing one because everyone else was and i dont want to hit my bare head against somone elses helmet... nah just kidding, the snow she is hard sometimes...

WH - actually not much, been boarding twice and ski'ing once...been a bit slack. Last time went ski'ing i got so frustrated (was to hot, kept falling and lost my ski pass) that i sommer gave up for the day.
