No where near' date=' geometry and tubing is a lot different, just look at the swingarm alone... completly different, the chain line alone tells you that.[/quote']

Pay attention class.

Head angle of the Morewood is 70 degrees, the Raleigh is 71.

Seat tube angle of both is 73

Morewood wheelbase is 16mm longer but toptube is 25mm shorter. (for large frame)

The big difference is in the chainstay which on the Raleigh is 39mm longer.

So how on earth is it possible for one bike to have a longer wheelbase than another when it has a shorter top tube, more acutely angled headset and shorter chainstay.

You have just stated drastic differences even though a few mm might seem immaterial.

Try your current bike with a lets say 100mm stem ... slap on a 90mm stem and go ride. ... you will feel a difference.

Sir, Pick me!

What was the toptube lenth? you never stated that, also, you have mistaken by saying the morewood have a more accute head angle, unless  you made a Typo. 70'' is slacker than 71.

Im not sure how They worked It out, as Im sure even the head angle cant make up for that much.

But still...What are you trying to say ?

that morewood copied a Raleigh? I dont get it.. Have a look at GT Idrive, take a look at Haro, Cannondale Jekyll they all have similarities.

There are only so many designs and takes on linkages and pivots... but those two are really very different.

Raleigh, Orbea etc measures the chain stay from the centre of the BB to the centre of the rear wheel axel. Moorwood, Santa Cruz etc. gives the chain stay length as the horizontal distance between the BB centre and the rear hub axel centre.  <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Two identical bikes with the same chain stay length with only different BB drops/height will have different wheel bases.

The obvious difference between the Raliegh/Superlight/Hecklar/Cannodale Rush etc and the Morewood are that the Morewood does not have a elevated chain stay.  Which dates back a ?few? years ago.

At least Bos & OW is making some sense. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yeah we compare BB height, TT length, angles, and all the rest, but not all manufacturers' starting point is the same. MW is one of a few that do not measure BB height but rather BB drop. Big difference as this takes into account tyres and axle to crown.

They are also clever enough to state all the different measurements for different a2c's.

Many manufacturers measure ACTUAL TT while others measure effective TT.

In addition, 580mm TT + 100mm Stem does not equal 620mm TT + 60mm stem. Not even close.

Even if all the other measurements are 101% identical, a higher BB will result in a completely different bike out on the trail. Same with HA.

Now go ride.

BOS said it best - the Morewood was hand-welded, heat treated and assembled in Pietermaritzburg by the man who owns the Morewood brand. There's unique value in that! Especially for the kind of okes who go ga ga over a hand-assembled Colnago, for example. (I have to admit that I am not one of those, but I do understand the perception of value which comes with it...and it's not uncommon. I mean Cannondale's so proud of it that every bike comes used to come with big stickers on the seat stay announcing just that...)

Danger Dassie ... it was a Nikon that took the pics so half were probably out of focus or overexposed anyway so maybe the loss is not that big Smile ... just kidding, you take great pics! Hope your HD is fine.
