i thought those discs were fitted by the wheel manufacturers. everyone removes those stupid things anyway.

A law was passed last year I think, that makes it manditory for all bikes sold in the USA to have the plastic thingy on it. Same applies to reflectors in the UK. The USA also want to ban quick release levers in some states.

Didn't conform to federal safety standard, Cannondale don't have any other choice but to issue a recall.

If they didn't and someone crashes, they could then open a civil claim against Cannondale. Even if it had nothing to do with the disc, and in USof A this more than a possibility.

That plastic disk thing really sucks.

 

Imagine how cr&p it will look on a top end bike.

 

I only thought MTB's from makro had those stupid things on them.

I suppose it makes sense in a country like the US where a derailleur ending up in the spokes and the resulting road rash could cost a company millions in law suits.
