Tumbleweed Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 it seems i'm one of the few peeps who sets up my bikes with the front brake on the right-hand side of the handlebars. was wondering how many others do too?
Tumbleweed Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 aaaaaaaaaah! was starting to think i was weird!
no calves Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 i am left handed so i have the stronger(front) brake in my weaker(right) hand. but that is the way the giants comes, when the front brake is in the left hand it is known as DOWNHILLER setup, dont know why.

Plentipotential Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Coming to the bottom of a decline you still need to be on the brakes, left hand for the rear brake, and getting ready to shift gears for the incline, right hand for rear cassette, on my bike anyway. Thought it was obvious?
Bos Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 aaaaaaaaaah! was starting to think i was weird! Â My front on right aswell.. Just the way I liked it.. They call it "moto"Â I know a few guys who ride like this.. they all happen to rip.. keep it up
Tankman Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 the biggest reason I have my front brake on the right... I dont want to get confused when coming of the motorbike!   breaks are always on the right with motorbikes, plus that is the brake you use the most, why not use your strongest hand for better control?
Delgado Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 the biggest reason I have my front brake on the right... I dont want to get confused when coming of the motorbike! Â Ditto!! Continuity works best regardless of what Jim Collins et al bleat about change been good!! No so good when you grap a handfull of back brake and it turns out to be front?! Faceplant deluxe!!

NotSoBigBen Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 aaaaaaaaaah! was starting to think i was weird! Â OK I'm biting my lip .......

BTW my bike got shifters on both sides of the handlebar .  Exactly, thats why you have it on the left that way you can get into the right gear before you get to the other side while still having the option to use the rear brake. Did I mention the rear cassette?
Tumbleweed Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 to the peeps what said i was weird, i see the voting's kinda close...
jollypoo Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Do I have a choice?the front brake caliper has cable insertion on the RHS of the calliper. So when I run the cable under my bartape it seem most logical to let it come over and down from the LH lever. It then looks neat. If I try to connect it to my RH lever its a 'tight' turn to get it down to the calliper. Can I buy a front calliper with LH cable entry? Â
