24 hour at Rietvlei

What a cool weekend.

Even though the rain put a damper on things and scared a couple of folks off the organisers did a grand job in making a plan! I thought the shorter route was better than the origional route.

As for overtaking, I had no problems and good job to all (most) as the overtaking wasn't ever aggressive (I'm sure there were 1 or 2 knobs - there always are). Everyone I passed/got passed by was really curtious and friendly and went out of their way to let you by.

I know also know I could do some riding on ice if need be. Damn that mud through the trees was slippery - I was happy to be riding flatties!

Good job to all the JAWS teams it was great!

Finally, thanks to all the organisers and the route setter(s) who put on an awesome event. IT really was a MTB event and not just a mindless loop on another jeep track - Good Job!

After restart @ 07:30 this was the result after 500m of riding - so all in all i did 1 lap and 500m - certainly wasn't going to try clean it and still ride - But At least i lived up to my signiture - hehehehe

Now for the complete strip down clean and rebuild.

It was an awsome event i will be back next year. And i hope the organisers have a proper bike wash setup next year.

Wow, what an awesome weekend! Even though i could not ride due to a back injury I had a blast drinking and supporting! I must have helped about 6 people clean their bikes after the "mud sprint"

I believe there was a proper bike wash set up but the people who managed it, ran away after the storm hit and didn't come back. I was told they were connections of the Cycle Hub. I must say though, the morons who thought they were clever by disconnecting the showers hose pipes to wash their bikes, screwed it up for others. If the showers don't have water the heating elements over heat and render the showers useless as many found out on Sunday morning. How many times does the announcer have to tell you not to do it?

Anyway, well done to all, hopefully I can ride it next year!

At least I did 3 Laps, started getting ready for the night ride and to make some food, then the storm came. Had the same when they opened the track again, 500m in the mud and had to turn back, will try and load pic later. After bike is cleaned one can stil hear the sand grinding, will have to strip and grease again. Now I can put on my new drive train set.

Wait for the special from CWC. "Post 24 hour Groupset specials"

Our team almost had a fist fight over who was going to ride the single speed next.  Ride was great fun.

So would you say a ss 29'er was the perfect ride after the storm?

only one with decent clearance between the stays, forks and the wheels?

A big thank you to Wendell and everyone else involved in this event. This is one of the better events I have attended and enjoyed every moment of it.

Thank you.
