Telkom Satellite PIG!!!!!!

Well done Alida! I only done it with 3 to 6th ones :)

After I heard the one guy at the water point telling his counter part something about "see they just through it down".... Got me thinking when I looked at the floor and saw so many there I decided rather to put them in my pocket.

If you organise your waterpoints PROPERLY you will have two or three volunteers with black bags picking up litter. As well as bins for decent cyclists.

I usually slip used goos, jelly baby packets, KFC rounder boxes etc into the leg of my shorts just on the outside of my left thigh. When you get to the finish you can dump them in the bin, another advantage is that i have really skinny legs so when i get photos back it looks like i have bulging legs muscles if taken from the optimum angle.

For sure BIG H, but why would you need volunteers to run after us if we could just stick them into our pockets.

How about Pornstar sponsor some re-useable gell containers in the next telkom race pack' date=' and problem solved??

PS. I used some of the Wasp gels this weekend and I loved them, The taste is better but they are expensive
[/quote']

Apparently not ocram. I rode from H and saw a lot of those goo bottles discarded along the road.

At some point, I saw a tube and Bomb with Nozzle lying on the side of the road.

Also saw many other tubes just left where the puncture was repaired and the cyclist just left it behind.

So a 50 buck item is easily disposable, what makes you think that anyne is going to care about a few bob recycleable bottles?

Some poeple ar just pigs and no getting away from it. To respect the planet, you have to have self respect first.

Littering seems to be an engrained roadie culture. I rode the Sammy Marks MTB event on Saturday and saw ONE Mule Bar packet on the 10km course. Pretty damn good considering it was a 6 hour endurance event...

I guess MTBers are "like totally at one with the environment" whereas roadies ride on that horrible grey lifeless stuff. Littering doesn't make it any prettier or uglier LOL

That said - KEEP YOUR TRASH IN YOUR POCKETS. Better a sticky messy shirt than roads full of your crap.

There - you have been told!

On this topic' date=' anyone have suggestions on a way better way of dumping your empty water sachet taken from the water points??[/quote']

Yes, don't serve anything unless the person gets off their bike and either drinks while standing still, or refills their bottle.

If the person can't finish a 100Km race with 2 full bottles, will a few extra minutes of stopping make that much difference to their time. It's also a safer option - you'll be surprised how many people lose control of their bike while trying to grab something at speed.

Is this a serious question? Why DO we always have to throw things anywhere. Keep it with you. I have one question for people who think it's ok for volunteers to pick up after them - do you throw your trash next to your bin in the kitchen just because you have a domestic worker? Probably not. Why expect somebody who is not being paid to do it?

I dont cycle at 30km/h + in my kitchen... Tongue

I do feel that the race organizers or sponsered water points can clean that water point area... (not the whole 100km route)

Thank you to all the wonderful people at the water points! Clap

VA 269's name is Tijl van de Winkel  of MTN Club 100 - well done on setting such a good example.

Do we name & shame VA234 (I have all the names of that bunch)

Hi Ricycle - I was only pointing out that NOT ALL VA's are PIGS...

Sorry Flemish, I got so angry with the baddies I kinda overlooked the fact that the goodies are by far in the majority so WELL DONE to all the well-behaved, polite, environmetally-friendly cyclists - VAs and all other categories Smile

Dimension Data Rider No. VA234. Next time keep your goo sachets till the end of the race and then dispose of your rubbish!!!!

I had just commented on this in the bad day in the cradle thread.

Not sure if its the same guy who rode in the A bunch?

I was asked to post the following apology on helaf of the culprit.

Rider VA234 feels very bad about this incident. I found out its a friend of mine, and after a few klappe, gave him a stern talk about manners etc.

He shows remorse and has given me the undertaking that he will stop this bad habit, even go further and stop throwing his chicken bones and Mc Donalds containers out the car window on the highways and byways.

As part of his rehab programme, he will sweep the routes afterwards for empty discarded gel wrappers, of the next 5 races he partcipates in.

The emphasis is on "ORGANISE properly" and not "volunteers"..... everybody at a waterpoint are volunteers.

I have manned and organised quite a few waterpoints and events. If you plan properly you WILL have a contingency to celan up aftereards. It is part of your scope of work.

Cyclists are not all "vuilgatte" but sometimes when you are tired and the sugar levels are low you seem to forget all reason.
