Kranswurm Posted November 26, 2009 Share This is one hell of a time to ask a question like thatI'm just about to commit to a 29er SS from Kiwi.....now what?
Thumper Posted November 26, 2009 Share Well worth reading that article! Was looking at a 29'er but being a small guy the 650B sounds like a better option ?

CAAD4 Posted November 26, 2009 Share By the time they are out of fashion you would have had a few years of fun anyway, and will then enjoy riding something that climbs a lot easier and does not look out of proportion. Do it... commit.

Slowbee Posted November 26, 2009 Share i saw a titus 29er (custom sprayed green) at the bike shop yesterday. The guys reckon that for me a 29er would not make much difference (I am 1.74 tall).

Wyatt Earp Posted November 26, 2009 Share This is quoted from the article. " Pacenti said. "As 140mm travel bikes become the norm (even for XC bikes) the 650B wheel size is going to make even more sense Considering the bikes being discussed I can see the sense in what they are saying and even have to agree. 100 mm. travel bikes and hadrdtails, well the 29 inch wheel size is just perfect. Flea Posted November 26, 2009 Share Also just committed to a 29erThe article is more aimed at 26" - don't buy some of his arguments, but generally seems to be you get a slightly bigger wheel, but can keep the same geometry etc. In my mind you should re-look at the entire geometry if you change a part of it... TYGA Posted November 26, 2009 Share Kranswurm just do it, I have an On One 29"SS and love it! You won't regret it, not at On One prices anyway. For rigid and hardtail I reckon 29" is the way to go, for trail bikes the 650B does make sense. Just a pity you lose economies of scale and prices go up when new standards emerge.... The only thing that will make me want to get rid of my 9er is the fact that dingdong rides one....
Aurora Posted November 26, 2009 Share Im still not convinced on 29er bikes, if they are really that amazingly fast, why havnt burry and co started riding them yet? Please can somebody explain 650b in plain English to me, iv just woken up
TYGA Posted November 26, 2009 Share Slowbee it makes no sense that your height / size will reduce the amount of effect that you will experience from a different wheel size.....that oke's smoking Joe's again. You can take my bike for a spin if you want to try it for yourself. Just be warned...no shocks no gears....
