The difference is in the profit margin.

Like I have said before' date=' it is a fairly good bike, but its main selling points are unique looks and a price tag the general public can't afford - the perfect poser bike.

Precisely. And to be honest - there are other bikes that look as good, and in some instances better. I admit I'm partial to it because I own one, but the Time RXR Ulteam is better looking and phenomenally stiff, light and responsive.

But hey, whatever floats your boat - if there are guys out there willing to waste the moola just for the prestige of owning one, go forth and spend!

PS - GreyOwl, there are some pretty Colnago's out there too, like the CX-1 smiley20.gif

Not sure on this whole pricing thing' date=' Glorycycles.com have the a frame set for $ 5500,00 and a Eddie Merckx AXM for $ 4800,00 a whopping $700,00 less.

What $700,00 less?? If they sell a Mercks for $ 4800,00 then they should sell this frame at least for $ 7000,00. Dont think its the same class (IMO)

I agree. The Merckx is far superior.

Yeah, the Cx1 is phenomenal...better looking in my opinion than the EPS...but also very stiff. But, should you feel the need to expand the bicycle family, I'd be happy to sell you one!!!

If you can afford it, buy it, if you cant then dont call the buyer a poser cause if someone had to give you this bike you would take it with open arms and pose with it all week.

Actually, if someone gave it to me I would try my damndest to sell it, buy the road bike I currently have and spend the difference upgrading my MTB. And that's the truth.

Out of interest, why do you say the Merckx frame is in a different class than the Dogma?

I believe you. You just sounded amazed that the merckx is $700,00  cheaper (less expensiveWink) than the dogma. Im also surprized...  surprized that the price diff is only $700,00

As i said this is merely a opinion. For starters the merckx bikes are made buy a guy (or he gets it made) that is one of the best cyclists of all time and now he wants to coin it with his "name". Nothing wrong with that and i wish him all the best. Pinarello has a rich pedigree that goes back yonks and its Italian (basically where the history starts). So i dont say the merckx is not a good bike but in my opinion its not in the same company (pedigree) as the pinarello
