Dr. Seuss Posted June 7, 2007 Share i am with TitusTi - get the PT and a coach & then a month or two later get the crankset and stem to congratulate yourself for all the 2x20s you have done!
gianni Posted June 7, 2007 Share from a recent stiffness /weigth ratio test: 1) FSA K-Force Light MegaExo 0.188 2) Campag Record Ultra 0.180 3) Stronglight Copact Pulsion 0.161 4) SRAM Force GXP 0.152 5) Shimano FC-R700 0.141 Not sure why one would go for ZIPP with other more extablished brands as above. Christie Posted June 7, 2007 Share CWC had the older FSA k-force Mega cranks on sale at R2500. Totalcycling.com of Comobike.com had the Record ones for R3500 or something like that. Either of these offer better bang for the buck compared to the Zipp cranks imo.

You should print the actual stiffness from the test as well. The FSA dont score nearly as well then. Just because a flea has a power to weight ratio better than me, doesn't mean its going to bench press more than me. Well, maybe it will, but you get the point.velo2007-06-07 06:09:
Spinnekop Posted June 7, 2007 Share So where do we find this interesting info???
javadude Posted June 7, 2007 Share FSA advert in Pro Cycling or Cycle Sport mag. They make a big deal over their stiffness to weight ration in the ad, and in small print they give the actual stiffness values. I think the Record crank was the stiffest. Christie Posted June 7, 2007 Share It should be on EFBE's website. I saw it in a magazine as part of an FSA advertorial, where they did the marketing trick of manipulating the plots and graphs to make their product look vastly superior.

Everyone in here seems to think that 20g will make them the next Amrstrong so I printed the weight / stiffness ratio. If anyone wants the stiffness value only let me know.. gianni2007-06-07 08:26:

The Saint Posted June 7, 2007 Share What the hell does all this mean? I can't bend my crank with my hand therefore it is stiff. Not sure I could bend my crank with my foot either therefore it is still stiff, who cares if there is a difference between 0.8 and 0.81.
gianni Posted June 7, 2007 Share .................more typing ! ok 1) FSA K-Force Light MegaExo weight: 503g stiffness: 94.5 N/MM Ratio: 0.188 2) Campag Record Ultra weight: 652g stiffness: 117.1/MM Ratio: 0.180 3) Stronglight Copact Pulsion weight: 522g stiffness: 84/MM Ratio: 0.161 4) SRAM Force GXP weight: 652g stiffness: 99.1/MM Ratio: 0.152 5) Shimano FC-R700 weight: 765g stiffness: 107.5/MM Ratio: 0.141 Definitely Campag for me when looking at above test...well it's definitely Campag anyway but that's another argument altogether........... I couldn't care less, as I defnitely wouldn't be able to bend the old cranks let alone the carbon ones but the man asked the question, so we're answering it.. The Saint Posted June 7, 2007 Share Does this secure you bragging rights on a saturday morning? "Hey John my cranks are 652 grams have a stiffness of 107.5mm and a ratio of 0.141" "Huh?" "Oh my word - hey everyone Bill has stiff cranks can you believe it" MMMM I think I would just slap my mate if he told me this and refuse to ride with him ever again.
