63.8 Max speed on your rollers' date=' surprised you didn't fly off the front.Tongue

I feel like I am going to take off at 42KM's

But the trick to get a real workout on rollers is to Average 60+ km/h.... An average of 31 km/h on rollers is a recovery ride, or a warm up before a tt... Not a workout....

Ok' date=' do that trick again, but like 101% says, this time, do 60 or more kms on the rollers in the hour and then compare...

[/quote']

that's just the thing - in my experience you can only go up to a certain speed on the rollers and not any faster - no matter what gear you are in.

what i am also trying to say is that it FEELS like you are getting a killer workout on rollers,  but you are not really.

ave 60+ km/h on the rollers for an hour without holding on to anything or anyone holding you upright?  I will pay good money to see this!

Doc apparently you only had a recovery ride.....I am also a little sceptical about averaging 60 on rollers without someone behind you just to make sure that you don't accidently hit the wall in front of you.

Roller record broken

44

year old Manfred N?scheler has set a new speed record for riding on

stationary rollers, clocking 164.1 km/h in Berne, Switzerland on

September 16, 2000. The record was set using a 54x11 (10.49 m) gear on

a standard bike (Moser frame with Campagnolo gear) on Minoura rollers.

The old record was 160.4 km/h.

During the attempt, N?scheler rode

at between 269 and 284 rpm, demonstrating that leg speed is not

necessarily lost as one gets older.

P.S. 269-284 rpm was realised with a little gear to begin.

164,1 km/h (102 mph) with 54x11 gear are 261 rpm

Normally keep it in one gear to play around' date=' riding loose hands, bunny hop and stuff like that.

Really? you got a video cam so you can record this for us when you attempt bunny hopping on your rollers? See if you can pull a wheelie as well...

Rollers are fun......but the quality of workout the IDT wins by far!! My aim is to get stronger not work on my bike skills.....that you do when you do bunch riding with your mates!

Can I hijack this.

There is people like me that got a problem with balance on the rollers.

My record for staying uprigth on the rollers is around 3 seconds.

Would it be usefull to get a stationary bike or use the IDT.

I've been using the IDT but my new bike have carbon stays and I'm worried it will get damaged.

Seen couple people do it, my highest avg to date is only 54km/h. Maybe if i get fit i can clock a 60 avg. You guys should try it some time, for fun.

Maybe we should put on a demonstration, we could charge an entrance fee... Maybe raise some coffee ride funds...

riding on the rollers is like riding on a slight downhill all the time.  if you drop gears you don't get extra resistance cos the rollers just pic up their pace and off you go.  how do you do LT sessions on your roller?

Well said, good point.....

There is  / was a company that makes / made rollers WITH a magnetic resistance device so that you can increase the resistance whilst getting   enjoying the benifets of rollers.

Posted a link to their website on the exact same discussion (Version1) on the hub 1 - 2 years ago... Think it was Minoura or something, some Jap company...

Subsequently I believe they sell a seperate resistance device which can be fitted to their rollers

Patience required, the website is bladdy slo
