I am getting really peed off with everyone i talk to being so negative about the world cup.

I am really looking forward to it, and i get really mad when all people can do is complain.

Especially when they are obviously very ill informed about the whole thing.

Anybody else experiencing this kind of attitude?

The negativity seems to be a Souf Efrican thing. Our negative rantings do no good in encouraging tourists to come to this amazing place and spend their currency( which we desperately need) The cash injection is exactly what we need to help get us out of our recession. Every european country would give anything to have the opportunity we have.

Just take a look at the post regarding the ride in Cape Town this morning, that is world class.

Yes we have issues, but so does everyone else, deal with them, alert visitors to them( as we would be if visisting New York, London etc)

Yes the negativity is unproductive, the world cup is coming like it not, so rather make the most of it and try to make sure that every visitor is greeted with a smile.

The only positive thing about all those negative people is that I am fairly sure I will get the tickets I applied for.Thumbs%20Up

Will also host a few people in our house and I am sure will make a few friends.

Looking forward to it

Depends on what they negative about.

Im negative with teh industry that i work in. I feel we are going to rip the arse out of the market in the hospitalty sector. They talking about pushing rtaes up to R4000 a night when we sitting at R1200 now which is still expensive. We had 460 bedrooms full over Xmas with locals but what local could afford to fly to CT from JHB watch a match and stay in a hotel.

i just think that we are screwing the locals to try make a buck of the inter guys that have seen whats happening.

I belive SA is ready for the SWC and its going to be cool but some things are going to be crap.

Funny you mention this, over the last week or so there have been reports of low ticket sales from <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Switzerlandon>, Netherlandson> and some other EU countries.

Some of the reasons given for low ticket sales:<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Crime, Expensive and Winter (in SA).

Apparently only +/- 1000 tickets purchased by Swiss fans so far?.

Ok Switzerlandon> is not one of the major soccer powers, but the article did say that other European countries also reported low ticket sales.

Loads of tickets still up for grabs hence the LOC looking at ways of selling to public. I read that Germany, England and the Dutch havent sold all the tickets to their matches.

I think the negative attitude is catching from us to the rest of the world. CNN is even doing updates on the stadium construction - did they do this for Germany 4 years ago?

Now we have stab-proof vests! Come on. I hope whomever got onto this brain wave catches a cramp between his/her two big toes.

Leet22, I hear what you are saying. There have been reports in England about this as well. They were expecting a 40% increase in the daily room rate but they are reporting increases at about 3000%.

See ring and rip it!

Wayne, I am so looking forward to watching an international sport with quality players (ALL OF THEM) live in my own "back yard". I probably will not go to game in Rustenburg as I might have to travel through the Cradle, but other than that I am soooooo keen.

I'm still trying to work out how to fleece the foreigners coming here. Any suggestions?

Offer charter flights from Rand Airport to SunCity airport for locals and foreigners who are scared to go via the cradle?

I have been sitting in on the Security meetings since early last year and if you saw what went on then you will feel the same.

There were also many reps from other countries there.

The World Cup will go ahead but what after July.

PE has no water in the dams and there are 100 000 kids that go hungry dailly but they don't have money to do anything as it's all in our Stadium.

What will happen to the 4 million Africans that are crossing the border since July last year in search of the riches from WC?

NO WORK=Lots of CRIME

Everyone has there own oppinion on the subject.Only time will tell.

My standard response to these a-holes is;

"When did ignorance become a point of view"

that usually shuts them up pretty quickly.

This is the second time this week that I have to agree with you. What happened?Wink
