Hey whoz doing this race end of August, where is every1 staying over, whoz done the race before? I c no route profile anywhere, but I imagine it shud be fairly flat terrain.

If you've done it before how does it compare to other races? Is it flat and fast like bakwena (post office race) or bit more hectic? Would like to know what im training for LOL

word, r u going to polish those mavics and come show us what that specialized can do Question if narra's racing there will be at least 1 Felt kicking Specialized butt Approve

COOL thanks ewep. At first glance this looks shocking, but I c the diff between lowest and heighest points is just over 100m, so its a fairly flat ride yes? I recon you've done this before? Is it a fast race?

Most likely not, but still time to change my mind. Problem with this type of race is that your seeding is inflated, then when you have to tackle more difficult races, you battle to stay with the blue rinse grannies on shopping basket bikes. Rather do races such as Vodacom, Dome2Dome or Monte to get a more accurate seeding.

Hi Ewep

Great how the profile looks positively mountainous until you see the scale and it's all up and down over 100mtrs!

This was a good weekend away last year - stayed at Sundowner ranch and saw TCS guys there but that was pre-Hub so I didn't know who they were.

Tail wind in made the last 20kms brilliant but usually they say it's against the riders on the home stretch.

There was a lot of traffic in the 1st 25kms.  Scenery v monotonous and exposed to wind, so lots of people hiding in the bunches and over the centre line at times.

Rest of the day at Sun City is great.

I stay in Rustenburg, but WILL NOT be doing this race. Deem it too dangerous over the first section up to and past Mogwase. It is ok for rest of route as soon as you turn right on the Rtb/Thabazimbi road. There is too many cars/taxis/busses on the first section on a Saturday morning..

Should they stage the race on a Sunday, it will be better. The roads are a lot quieter then.

Race itself is not too difficult. Lekka wide and good tar surface. A fair amount of drags, coupled with general high speeds and wind over last 20km, makes it a bit tough for some.

Yes Wannabe, some cyclist underestimate that last stretch (like me on my 1st time) and if there's a wind from front it can be quite tough.

Did the first one last year.  I didn't find it that bad, i.e. traffic.  Actually had a great time.  A def must do for me.

O ja, it's fast enough to be fun for a dik oke like me.

I will be there, I enjoy this kind of race. Very similar terrain to Bela-Bela. We have friends with Timeshare at Sun City so we already booked accomodation last year.

I think this year the MTB race is on the Sunday as well so we can make a whole weekend of cycling Big%20smile.

Was the first race I managed to go over 37km/h average. Was a bit dangerous with all the trucks on route.

I'll definitely be doing it.  Not sure whether on my bike or doing tandem with Beee yet.  But I enjoyed the race last year.
