Nomad Posted August 6, 2007 Share Your holy Pinkness and other holy complainants, lets kick the man when he's down, come on, kick! Look down on him! He's given you sh*t service all his life. Kick him! Enjoy his misery! Who needs his timing anyway? Rejoice to the fact that a man has failed. Celebrate his misfortune. Come on now, kick ..... Hendrik Petoors Posted August 6, 2007 Share I talked to some experts and the technology is out ther. Dirt cheap and available. I will get name and forward it later on. Works very much the same as the barcode aluminium disk you get on expensive items that they cancel with the large magnet. I will report back later. IanC Posted August 6, 2007 Share Spectrum sport does not sell chips to cyclists' date=' instead their chip is built into the number that you get when you enter a race. On finishing the race, you give back the number, which they re-use at the next race. Thus the costs are already been cut due to the fact that you do not have to buy a chip. At the moment I have two chips of which one (WT) I only use about 2 or 3 times a year Done a race this weekend with Spectrum sport as timer and the results are immediately available as you cross the line[/quote'] Maybe this is a solution to two issues at once.CSA wants all cyclists to have a licence similat to roadrunning. In Road running each year you get issued with a cloth number with your licence number and the year it is valid for.If they do the same with cycling and then have this spectrum chip attached to that number the licence issue is solved and from their they can build a national database of all cyclists. Therefor no licence, no national seeding for you. and like mentioned before say on races like the Argus I think CSA will be happy with R 840 000 seeding/ timing fee. Maybe with that income CSA can do more to promote cycling. Latrinus look into this Please.

fandacious Posted August 6, 2007 Share That is bullsh*t I would love to see this tested in a court of law. That piece of electronics was sold to the user and how they see fit to use it is up to them. It was tested in a court of law. Thats why winningtime no longer time championchip riders
The Guy in Pink Posted August 6, 2007 Share Not True fandacious. There was an out of court agreement.
fandacious Posted August 6, 2007 Share Oh right... There must be something to it though? Why would winningtime give in if they weren't doing anything wrong..."Important Notice Regarding non-WinningTime Chips Race Administration Systems WTSA (Pty) Ltd ("Winning Time") has been involved in lititgation initiated by ChampionChip Africa (Pty) Ltd ("ChampionChip") regarding the use of ChampionChip transponders during events timed by Winning Time. In the interest of curtailing ongoing litigation, Winning Time has agreed to refrain from the utilisation of ChampionChip transponders in the timing of any athletes and/or cyclists and/or competitors in any sporting events. This agreement, which has been made an Order of Court, has been reached without any admission of liability. "
